I know the feeling . The same thing happen to me I found one while tracking a deer I just shot , found the deer and a arrow I shot at a squirrel 37 years ago all the feathers were gone but the shaft and b h was in good shape, a surprise in deed.

I made one and it works just fine used a old boat trailer winch . I used it to help set up my elevated blind and it worked slick

Mine have the same thing . I think it is the film from the dipping . That part of the limb does the most flexing . I wouldn’t worry about it.
