As long as you have preload on the rope cocker it won't jerk or tug it violently. Put you rope cocker on, place your foot in the stirrup, pull with your dominant hand pull up so it is taught with preload and squeeze the trigger, (and ADF if applicable) then, slowly allow the rope cocker to go down....

I too am planning on buying a new excalibur to replace a 10 year old Exocet. It will either be a 330 or 335. I've handled and cocked a 330 but no one near me has a 335. I too received my 335 nightmare yesterday but my joy was short lived as I amputated the end of my thumb (about 1/2 inch) while fine tuning the Varizone. I somehow got my thumb (still don't know how) above the rail and sheered it with the string when taking a practice shot. The doctors sewed it back...
