Re: Turkeys!

Yeah, I sure found that out the hard way! Movement a deer would never pick up, like moving a thumb to the safety! Thing is, when it’s not turkey season I can’t shoo the dang things away when I’m hunting deer. They make a racket and won’t leave—even if I stand up just 30 yards away and do jumping jac...

Re: Turkeys!

Wow, SIX states—that’s hardcore!

I tried hunting turkeys twice, with no success.

I truly don’t understand how their pea-sized brains work. Deer make sense to me (most of the time). Turkeys, not at all.

Re: Turkeys!

Do turkeys live all the up in Canada?

Do their feathers turn white in the winter, like the rabbits’ fur? 😁

Re: Wraps or no wraps

Why retire an arrow just because it killed something? Wash it off with soap and water, and put it back in the quiver! Arrows like to kill stuff; the more they kill the happier they are! Nog’s got the right idea: hot pink fletching is the way to go for finding arrows. Cyan is the second-bes...

Re: NICE!!

Even a very limited hunting season would be good thing. Having had a close personal encounter with a grizzly in Montana, I can tell you firsthand that grizzlies have absolutely no fear of humans. Animals aren’t stupid; they know when they’re untouchable. (Just look at deer in city parks.) Learning t...

Re: Followed me home...

Hope you can give us a Review. I’m interested in hearing how it compares to the traditional Excalibur trigger—which I consider only slightly better than mediocre.

Re: Broadhead Identification

I bet if you asked on the Tradgang.com forum, someone there could tell you. They look like late 70’s to early-80’s broadheads to me.

If you do it, wear safety glasses while shooting it—or better yet, a face mask.

Re: Solo hunting solution

If you Canadians had deer like we’ve got here in the South, loading them in the truck wouldn’t be an issue: just grab ‘em by the scruff of the neck, and toss ‘em up into the bed! :)

Re: wooden wolverine stocks

Danny Miller had one at BooFest. It had cedar branches spray-painted on it in gray for camouflage. I think he said it came that way from Excalibur.

Check out the goats foot lever and the gaffe lever. Both were used to help cock medieval style crossbows. The gaffe lever is a bit easier to build than the goats foot lever.

Re: Super heavy arrow with expandable heads?

You’re certainly on the right track, IMO, to use the heavier insert/broadhead. However it’s not realistic to expect any arrow/broadhead combo to achieve a pass through on a leg bone! I dont think the most powerful Excalibur shooting a single-bevel fixed blade could achieve a pass through on a leg bo...
