I know I tried a couple times...not with G5s but other blades (like Muzzys and Wasps) and I could get them sharp to include shaving hair - but never like they were new from the package. Last year I took six deer, lost one...a total of seven sets of replacement blades...under $20= Zero frustration.

For what it is worth...I have coveralls that are the Rocky Scent X...and they are very well made...and waterpfoor...but not, NOT breathable as they claim. The ones I have do not have carbon but the scent X lining...which I think means a tighter weave material. I also have the Scent Blocker Outfitter...

I got a Exomax for $761 including shipping last fall...from a fellow in Georgia. Would think for the Phoenix you may get a bit lower...but he is giving you a couple extra blades with the muzzys...and he is local - which is worth something in my opinion... Not worth $160 differeance...but for $50 or ...

All I know is that from my max I can not see the bolt in flight, and on the most recent shot, I had pass through, and then the boit lodged into an oak root completely burying the broadhead (wasp) up to the shaft actually bending the aluminum washer...needless to say, I had to break the bolt to ge it...

My 2 cents...hang out on this board and pick one up used. I bought a new Exomax...because this wife let me...but in the end, it is way more power than I need (not a bad thing - but for deer at 30yds - which is my max with any archery gear - it is more than required). Excalibut makes simple bows - so...

Congrats...I am in VA as well - in Fairfax...and have used my Max alternating with my vertical bow this season...been a good season using both...though I have taken more thus far with the vertical bow...but my goal is to take one stalking with the Max by season's end...

Welcome aboard.
Cheers,
Matt

Another thing I found works great...is I take a couple old towels, fold them in hald length wise and and roll them like an old sleeping bag - nice and tight so it is about 10 inches thick by about 14 inches long and then I wrap some twine around it. I then take the roll, and hang it in front of my b...

Well...I will hold my real thoughts a bit...but sounds like that was a risky shot at best. Jumping the string and ending up with a rear quarter shot....that means he was moving before the shot...and a walking shot at 40yds...well, I will say that is way, way out of my comfort range. Having lost deer...

Having the Exomax...I am 6ft, 190lbs...33yrs and in good shape...and there is no way I can cock the Exomax without the cocking string. Tried it for the first week...thinking I was not going to let some bow get the best of me...and after a few nights in the hot tub soaking my back muscles...I gave up...

Muzzy 100s from an Exomax

Just thought I would post that I just shot a couple rounds at 20-30yds with my Exomax and Muzzy 100 grain three blade...thay performed perfectly. I have the original Wasps that came with the package (Boss SSTs)...and have ordered the replacement blades...but in the meantime, I was wondering if the M...

I concur on the lane...but it is nice to have a forum where folks are not all about how big the buck is...but rather the experience and meat in the freezer...coupled with the humility that we sometimes do not recover our deer. I know folks that look for all of 15 minutes before they consider it a lo...

Wasp SST Boss...ones that come with the crossbow. Took two bucks with devestating results with the same set up this year...also took a couple deer with the compound and Muzzy 100s as well (three blade)...I am convinced it isn't the broadhead but just shot placement and as mentioned...nature. This do...

Happy and a bit dissapointed...

Two days ago, I shot an eight pointer...and then about 30 minuted later, shot a doe. The land I am on has lots of deer, and I have been targeting does...but could not pass up the eight pointer. Anyways, waited about two hours after the first shot at the buck and then set to trailing since I had not ...

I agree it is another tool/toy to make hunting enjoyable. It is also great for when someone comes to town (and of course has/gets a license)...unlike my bow, my in law and hunting partnets from elsewhere can easily use the crossbow with a couple days shooting in the backyard. I also like the xbow fo...

I too have lost deer...I spend most my time hunting in "Urban" areas in Virginia...I practice a lot - can hit accurately out to 60yrds...but never take shots more that 30 with the bow and this year the crossbow. I took three deer last year, and failed to recover two. One no doubt lived...I...
