I hunted 4 years with my Axiom using Zombies and 125 and 150 gr slick tricks (one deer with 150 gr. boltcutters and the original arrows). That bow is rated 35 fps slower than your 340. I had six kills, all pass throughs with the arrow sticking in the ground on the other side of where the deer stood....

Why wouldn't a 500 ft/sc crossbow be much more capable of extending the ethical range of a crossbow. Most of us limit our shots to 35 - 40 yards with our Excaliburs. It seems that an arrow would hit at 55 or 60 yards at about the same time with the faster bow as it would at 40 yards with my 350. A ...

I'm in favor of advancing and making things better but there is a cost. Crossbow, longbow and muzzle loader hunters used to have a certain charm about them because they used more primitive weapons and were perceived to be more skillful. That charm is disappearing with technological advances. Someday...
