Re: not a good diabetes day today Damn

My grandfather gave up on the shots when insulin pump technology met his standards and never looked back. He lived until 78, when something other than diabetes did him in. One of the young ladies at our church went the pump route and says it's the best thing she has ever done. Is it something you ha...

Re: Feds are sticking it to us again!!!

The view of firearms owners paying the fee is purely political, to show those who don't own firearms that the CPC is not going to cater to firearms owners. It's just a move to try and pick up votes from the 'on-the-fence' crowd. The CPC also knows that there is absolutely no alternative for those th...

Re: Feds are sticking it to us again!!!

Not really a big deal, as the fees were only waived as an olive branch while the federal government worked toward eliminating the LGR. The bigger concern is that the federal government is being very clear that eliminating the LGR is the 'final stance' on changing the Firearms Act, since the CPC does...

O/T - Jake Fan

I have a jake fan from one of the birds I harvested this year that would be good for someone looking to add a little realism to their decoy, if they use a male turkey decoy.

Anyone in the Kitchener-Waterloo area is welcome to it. Sorry, I won't deliver.

OT - East Elgin Sportsman's Association Open House

I'm not associated with this club, however, I do know the president, who not only is the president of the club, but is also one of the regional spokespersons for the Canadian Shooting Sports Association. This is one of the best events in Southwestern Ontario to attend for firearms enthusiasts, or th...

She Did It

It's always fun to broadcast the success of the 'first timers' who are out there for the first time enjoying the woods and chasing their quarry. Jess took her first bird, a jake, with me guiding her on April 28th. Last week, she had to go out and do it on her own and...well... http://i1090.photobuck...

Re: O/T Magic Jack

Here's a synopsis I wrote up a while ago regarding how to set up a stable and effective VOIP system, for anyone interested. If you have any further questions, shoot me a PM. If you're local, I can always be paid in beer to help set up. : One of the things we have done and have enjoyed an avera...

Re: O/T Magic Jack

The manner of 'hacking' a VOIP line is akin to how a traditional hard line is 'hacked', or 'tapped' actually, in the modern age. Nothing's safe, the second you enter the power grid, so, no sense worrying about it. Unless, you're part of an ultra-secret terrorist sleeper cell...in which case the men ...

That's what an IP generator is for to fool those sites into thinking your computer is somewhere else.

Re: O/T Magic Jack

My service costs me around $5 a month for two lines. It is the way to go if you have a high bandwidth cable or DSL line. The only investment is for a VOIP box ($50) and a router (preferably with QoS capability, if you don't have one already). I'd never go back to a traditional line. Our cells get us...

Re: Practice close shots

Regarding the shotgun misses, not only has the shot pattern not started to open up, but it's also still rising after leaving the barrel. I have taken a couple people out turkey hunting the past few years, called a bird in to under 15 yards and watched them miss because they took aim at the noggin an...

Re: O/T Magic Jack

Not Magic Jack, but, I have been using a VOIP service for three years now with no issues. I use VOIP.MS for the service. It does take a little technical know-how to get started, but, I do have a guide for it. You can keep your current number. The issue with Magic Jack is your computer has to be on 2...

That's a Wrap for Ontario Turkey Season 2012

With forecasts of 5km winds, sunny skies and time to kill on the morning of May 14th, I headed out to a property close to my in-law's place where I hadn't been so far this season, but had scouted frequently before the season due to the landowner's insistence that my father-in-law and I do our best t...

Re: MNR Meeting

Yes, businesses were required to keep records of sales pre C-68. This was mainly for insurance purposes and not a requirement of their business licence. Police were also required to obtain a warrant in order to inspect a business' ledger. Post C-68, we have the position of Chief Firearms Officer in ...
