Re: Head Up or Head Down...and Jumping the String
Keith I think you may be onto something, but I wish you had skipped a couple of math classes and instead taken a couple of Kinesiology classes. Then you probably could give us the answers instead of posing questions.  I wonder if the string ducking thing might even be variable, d...

Re: Head Up or Head Down...and Jumping the String
Yes, I have just noticed that the "upright neck" thing seems to happen all the time. And it's one thing I use when approaching a downed deer as a visual check to verify it's dead. It was very apparent on the few that I hit in the spine. They dropped on the spot and then died in sight and I...

Head Up or Head Down...and Jumping the String
I've not really had a deer "jump the string" such that I whiffed, but I have had a couple at about 30 - 35 yards move enough that I hit high near the spine. Of course there are lots of factors involved, but one thing I have noticed over the years, is that when a deer dies, it's head seems ...

Re: Duck, Duck, Deer
Congratulations on the bountiful day ! were you using your single bevel heads on the 500 gr pulse arrows ? Hey Gerald, No, this was my last arrow with the VPA 200gr 3 blade. I built 3 of each. Next I'll move on to the other crossbow with the 200gr single bevels. All the arrows are around 500gr. Be ...

Duck, Duck, Deer
Well dang. I wrote up a nice story about going hunting for ducks Friday morning (and harvesting 2 teal and a Woodie) and then going for deer in the afternoon( and shooting a nice doe), but then when I tried to submit it I lost it. But it was a great day...just exhausting. Hit the doe a bit lower the...

Re: What Fixed head are ya shootin
I shoot a 500gr arrow at whitetails with a 200gr VPA solid 1 1/4" 3 blade. I sharpen them on a Stay Sharp "344" , so the bevel is more like 44 degrees than the standard 60 degrees of a 3 blade. Shot 3 deer with this setup so far and had great blood on all. Why so heavy...because stuff...

Re: On a roll this week...
Congratulations again! How many deer are you allowed to take? Here in Ontario, I've never had more than one tag! A bunch, Mr. Boo... :D We are issued three buck tags and two doe tags... :eusa-think: Then you can buy additional doe tags with as many 5-dollar bills as you can come up with. THEN you c...

No October Lull Yet.....
For what ever reason, acorns are falling like crazy here in NC right now. Seems to be a bit late, but I'll take it. I've got acorns all over my spots and the deer are hitting them like crazy too. . I decided to leave work early on Friday and headed up to my lake shore neighborhood spot. We got up th...

Re: Zwickey Black Diamond broadheads
I have some 200gr VPA single bevels I shoot, along with their 3 blade. Both are very accurate out of my Micro, but they are not real long so they stay inside the stirrup I switched to these late last year and so far have taken 1 deer with each head. Both passthrus and buried up to the insert in a tr...
