Re: Multigenerational twist
I graduated medical school 20 years ago with $200k debt. I still owe $100k. The main reason I’d like to help is because I know that is a real burden. However, I respect that he wants to be his own man. I felt (still feel) the same way. My dad helped me through college and he offered to help with med...

Multigenerational twist
Off topic (not crossbow related). So today, I went up to my folks to tell them I didn’t want to buy their house (1M$ house for a song—they want to downsize) and made up some excuses but the real reason was that I want to be my own man even if it is a struggle. It was a difficult decision and I came ...

Re: High FOC, high momentum
The only shafts I use are Zombies/Spynal Tapps and occasionally 2219s. Inserts range from 92-110. The Excaliburs have been M380,405s and BD400. Shaft lengths 18-22 with 20s primarily used now in BD400, occasionally 22”. Broadheads, primarily Slick Tricks from 100-175, primarily 125g Grizz Tricks an...

Re: High FOC, high momentum
I shot a 110 insert on a zombie with a 150 grain boltcutter a few times that combo shot really good . A little heavy but not that far outta wack. To tell the truth, I’m shooting this combo because I already had a bunch of 150 grain Boltcutters. I bought the Zombies from Wyvern which came with 110 g...

Re: High FOC, high momentum
I’d have to look up the formula again. I just balanced my arrow on my finger and marked it with a marker and took the measurements. I can’t remember what they were.Deerstalker wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 2:24 pmCould you list your arrow length and balance point as I want to compare to my BEEs for FOC%? Thanks

Re: Tact zone seems quite good! I’m impressed!
Swapped back and forth between the Tact Zone and the Nikon this weekend. The Nikon is definitely clearer but I think I can be more accurate with the tact zone. (The tact zone is also pretty darn clear.) The tip of the chevron on the tact zone reticle allows me to be more precise than the circles on ...

Rangefinding with a frisbee???
(Disclaimer: I plan to buy a rangefinder soon.) Today, I did an exercise to see how well I can guess ranges. Since I shoot almost everyday, I am getting to be quite a good shot. However, I have been shooting at known yardages marked on my driveway. So today, I put my target in the meadow and threw a...

Re: High FOC, high momentum
Thanks. I am definitely looking forward to fall to test them out. Here in MT, we can only use the crossbow in rifle season. However, this is not necessarily a handicap for me. Yesterday while I was shooting, 3 velvet bucks came into the meadow (basically my front yard) within shooting distance. Duri...

High FOC, high momentum
I was out shooting today (I try to shoot everyday). I am using heavy arrows with high front of center because I am waiting for the problem bear to show up at my place again. They are 18” Zombie Slayers with 110 grain brass inserts and 150 grain tips. They weigh 463 grains and have about 24% FOC. (Th...

Re: Naming of A Crossbow?
I bought my bow to hunt the neighborhood problem bear that killed my goat last year. I named my bow “Bear Killing Machine”. (Haven’t seen the bear yet this spring. If he doesn’t come this spring, he’ll be here in the fall.)

Re: FIBERBOARD SHEATHING TARGETS
My target is holding up really well. I shoot almost every day. I put my bag target tightly in a stiff cardboard box and slid welcome mats on each side. I filled the voids with spray foam. I wrapped it with black duct tape and put 2” squares of silver duct tape on all sides for bullseyes. I left the ...
