Re: New Cub. Red dot vs scope and broadhead weight?

I use 18" Diablos with the 100 grain x act broadheads with no problems out of my Grizzly. Killed big hogs and deer with it. I would probably use a fixed broadhead with the cub though. I never really liked a red dot myself but I wear glasses and it felt like it gave me double vision in low light...

Re: Deer meat

I have a sister-in-law that will eat the heck out of it and loves it...until she finds out that its deer meat. For me, I love it, but it took me awhile to really learn how to cook it. It took some experimenting and the right recipes to get it right.

Gas prices

How are gas prices in your neck of the woods? Was high around here for about$4.38 and now around $3.50. Thought it might curb some of my hunt trips. Food prices seem to be out of control now. Could be as high as it is in California but if I lived there, I would have more problems to worry about than...

Re: Shoulder surgery

Yeah AJ, I'm in the same boat with you. Told my wife that if I have to have surgery, it would have to be after hunting season. She tried to trick me by saying that she didn't want me to wait too long because it might get so worse that I wouldn't be able to hunt ever again. Told that at least then I ...

Re: Bow sight in

As far as I know, he is using a rope to cock it with. Could be all in his mind too. I have a friend who has a deer target. He doesn't use a sight for his compound bow but would get a kill shot every time he shot at his deer target. I would go out and put antlers on it and he couldn't hit it to save ...

Shoulder surgery

I finally had to break down make an appointment to see an orthopedic shoulder specialist. Actually, my wife made me. My first orthopedic doctor said my shoulders are shot and believes I have "frozen shoulders." Anybody out there that procedure and how did it turn out? Thank you again.

Bow sight in

I have a friend who has a crossbow, not sure what brand but I know it's not an Excalibur. When he sighted it in with field points they group good. When he used broadheads they fly very erratic. One will be eight inches to the left, the next will be four feet to the right. He has lost most of his arr...

Re: Squirrel hunting

I guess one reason why I use hollow points, in my reasoning, is if I come across some hogs. Never killed one with a 22 but told just put it behind their ear. Guess I should zero in at 25 yards too.

Re: Squirrel hunting

I do feel myself that more people should hunt squirrels. Especially youth or first-time hunters. So much can be learned hunting them. I think having good woodsman ship is a dying art. Love deer hunting but hunting these tree rats is rewarding in its own right.
