Re: Do you hunt with vertical and crossbows?
Life is way too short to hunt with only one type of weapon. I hunt with longbow( Centaur and Morrison) Recurve( RER Arroyo) Compound(two different Elites) and Crossbow(Excalibur Axiom) they all take game and are all fun to shoot.

Re: your thoughts on stand elevation ??
I use a 30 ft haul rope and climb to 25-28 ft. I practice this shot all summer long with a couple of different deer targets I have in the yard. There is a huge difference between 15 and 28 feet when it comes to getting busted. Sure it happens from time to time but no where the number of times when I...

Re: Lets talk about camouflage patterns.
I have used ASAT for a few seasons now and swear by it. I think its the only camo that was designed for animals and not humans. I have walked up to and taken deer at less then 25 yards( with the wind in my favor). The pattern is large enough to break up the human silhouette to a point where you blen...

Re: Stock string creep/stretch, brace height, 380
Thanks for the input. Still no thoughts on how many twists a string can take safely. I keep it well waxed when I'm using it. As to clockwise or counterclockwise; that thought was never on my mind because I simply looked at which way the string was twisted and added more: intuitive! BCY recom...

Re: Differences in Bolt Point of Impact
The lumenoks are in the ballpark of 28 grains give or take. That amount on the very end of the shaft will have a stiffening effect on the dynamic spine of the arrow. I believe even though we are shooting off a "rail" flight characteristics relating to spine and front of center are somewhat...

Re: Nikon Bolt XR
I just bought a Nikon Bolt three weeks ago. My biggest reason was for light gathering abilities during that last hour of legal time. I find the scope to be very clear and exceptionally bright. It is set up for a 400 grain arrow at 305 fps, so if you have a set up in that ballpark you are good to go....

Re: My Excal Matrix Blew Up!
Unfortunately, product usage goes hand in hand with product liability. In the case of DVD's, instruction manuals and E-mail addresses, you can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink. You also can't fix stupid.......I always find it funny that someone who has problems with a product will drop...

Re: time to change underwear
Unless you are a cop you cannot carry a sidearm for any reason in NJ. As far as permits go, you have a better chance of winning the lottery. If you want a real shot of heart racing medicine ,try getting a 100 pound cub out of a coyote snare without needing a box of bandaids! It took me over 45 minut...

Re: time to change underwear
NJ only allows something like 3/4oz or 1 1/2 oz of pepper spray. Basically enough to spray in your own eyes so you don't see the bear eating you! With black bears its a big intimidation game, if you appear bigger or more aggressive they retreat every time. Its the ones that stand their ground that y...

Re: Anyone Use a Ghillie Suit? What Brand?
Check out Rancho Safari's "Shaggy longcoat" this was one of the first ghillie suits made for bow hunting. They are a tad on the heavy side but are made very well. As others have said, depending on the area you hunt they can become problematic getting hung up in downed branches, multi flora...

Just remember its a plant oil. Treat EVERYTHING including yourself like your were covered in oil. Use anything that breaks down oil, dish washing detergent works well only because of the surfactants in it. 409 spray works well too for rubber boots. Always use a wash cloth as just soaping up don't cu...

Re: New axiom heading my way, i got some questions.
Pasidewinder, I got my first crossbow a few months back. Like you I got a axiom and have had the time to work with arrows, strings, weight and speed. The firebolts that come with your rig work great. With 125 grain heads, total weight works out to 394 and a 13.9 FOC across my chronograph I got a sol...

Axiom makes meat
I have been flinging arrows at deer for 43 years and decided to give a crossbow a shot this year. Anything with two limbs and a string has my interest. Last night, I set up on the edge of a dried up swamp. I treated myself to a new summit Titan climber this year and man this thing is almost too comf...

Re: "The Arra of My Ways"
Clean that bad boy off and get'er ready to do battle again. I still have a couple arrows for the compounds that have seen deer inside and out! Its like the old zwickey ad where there was a guy that took some amount of deer with the same broadhead. Unfortunately, mechanicals don't hold up to that kin...
