I think if the bow was shooting @ a faster speed it would of gone thru her.I shot a buck last year with a shwacker and my bow was shooing 296fps and it went thru no problem. Possibly be better, i jus read the 60lb KE on the pak & my Vixen was gettin 62.66 so i figure thats more it should work. ...
Bought 3 last year and on one of them the blade was never even ground at the factory. It was like a practice blade or something. But I did find that you can clamp them in a Lansky sharpener and sharpen the long blades. A single bevel is not bad. In fact that is what Ed Ashby recommends for breaking ...
nchunterkw: Before I purchased my Excal. Vortex, Ihad a HortonNitro Hunter. It called for moon nocks. I tried them in my Excal., they shot OK, but didn't want to be bothered with "cock fletch" down all the time. I took all my moon arrows to local archery shop, he carfully set-up his arrow...
I see the spinner question has been answered. I fooled around with lining up vanes with blades and I just didn't get any satisfaction. Spine . . .I just think these arrows are so short and the crossbow arrows are so thick/strong . . .you aren't going to get a lot of benefit there either. Not with a...
X3 on the Rinehart target. So much depends on arrow setup as to whether the BHs will hit exactly with the FPs. To me it makes sense that a BH might hit a bit lower due to increased drag over a FP. So if that happens, no big deal just adjust the scope. But if it's off in windage, then you need to loo...
Thanks Larry....that confirms it to me.
I think you might get away with it with a thicker string that hits in the middle, but it's not worth the hassle.
I'm just happy it's not my scope
DaveShooter I have found that lining up a 3 blade head with the fletching works most of the time. But with a 2 or 4 blade head you can't do that, and I have found that you don't need to. I think it has something to do with the way the air flows over the BH and the fletching being different, that it ...
Did a lot of shooting last night with some CE Maxima Hunters with flat nocks and everything was solid. No POI changes at all. Didn't get too many replied on this thread, so I guess not too many shoot , or have tried to shoot moon nocks. But anyway, here is my observation from this recent activity Pr...
I know but the problem was that the others flew good too for awhile. Then I got a step change. Checked the mounts and they might have been a little loose. So I quit, went in and re-loctited them and left it sit for a day. Yesterday all was good, then 1 arrow was high. But the next was dead on. Then ...
I bought some GT Laser IV's at Bass Pro and they had moon nocks in them. In shooting last night I was seeing some POI change - like 1.5" at 20 yds. I just put a new (used) scope on the Vortex so I am wondering if it is the scope or the nocks. Switched to shooting some arrows with flat nocks and...
4.Kinetic Energy Kinetic energy measures the amount of energy, or force, the arrow carries in the air upon being fired in foot pounds (ft.-lbs.). An arrow carrying high kinetic energy will strike an animal with more force and with deeper penetration, so it is especially important for hunters to con...
That sounds like a better plan. Do they hold together when they hit bone, or are they still "disposable" after the shot? All of the blades that I had pass through a deer were trashed.
