String replacement
Guys, how do you know when it's time to replace the string on your crossbow? I got an Exomax for Christmas 2005. I've left it strung that hole time shooting occasionally and have always kept the string waxed. It doesn't show any unusual wear, just some around the serving. At what point do you know t...

Frydaddy, I have the Exomax also and yes, it's loud and I fell into the trap of filling the stock with expanding foam (the kind like you buy at Home Depot in a can. I think this brand was Dow I used.) I forgot to plug up the area around my trigger assembly and Good Lord, what a mess I had. My bride ...

squashed vanes
Guys, I had some arrows in my crossbow case but they were laying loose in the case and now the vanes are flattened out on 2 sides. Does this effect accuracy? If so, what can I do to use them? Or do I have to strip those flattened vanes off and replace them? Thx Harry

your suggestions
Thanks guys for the great suggestions. I like the idea of the groundpounder bracket best I think. I found the link with pictures posted and it seems to be pretty popular with the guys on the forum also. Harry

Quiver question
Guys, I have the Excalibur quiver and bracket that mounts on my Exomax bow. While it does a good job and is quiet, I find that bracket aggravating even with the quiver off. I normally take my quiver off when I get up my stand but want to get away from that quiver/bracket set up. I also do some stalk...

Nice shot. I was taught to picture a basketball between the front legs of a deer and no matter which way they are standing or at what angle from you, always keep in mind that you want to punch through that basket ball. That sounds simple but has worked for me. By the way, just from a safety perspect...

unloading the crossbow
I always keep a field pointed arrow in my quiver with my broadheads and when I'm finished hunting, I just shoot it into the ground near my stand. It's also target practice. I aim for a different colored leaf or something like that, and yes I've shot them into the soft ground so deep I've never found...

foam in my trigger
My bride of 28 years took pity on me and picked out the hardened foam from my trigger assembly tonight. Took a long time but it's out now. And yes I learned my lesson. Thanks for the input guys. Harry

foam in my trigger
Thanks Hoss. Then I won't get acetone. I'll just take my time and pick this stuff away. Bet next time I fill a stock rail with foam I take the trigger out! Harry

foam in my trigger
Thanks MikeJ. I read the foam bottle (it's DOW brand) and it said to use acetone so I'll run by Home Depot tomorrow and see if that works. Man I hope I haven't messed up my bow. I just wanted to try to make it a bit more quiet and this is what I get! Oh well, nobody to blame but me. Will let you kno...

Ok, now I've messed up.
Guys, when I filled the rail up with foam, I forgot to take out the trigger. Now I've got a darn mess. The foam is hardening as I send this. Any ideas on how best to get this stuff out of the trigger assembly? Any solvent I can put in it? Heat it maybe?? Just got to darn excited I guess. Thx Harry

Filling my stock with foam
I have an Exomax and want to fill the "voids" with expanding foam insulation like several on this thread have suggested. But I don't want to damage my crossbow. What exactly do I need to remove to do that? Just the 3 screws in the stock?? Thanks so much.
