So educate me: why would anyone who has an Excalibur recurve bow want a compound bow?
I totally understand the advantages of compound bows in vertical archery, but crossbows?

Re: Ruuut ro ravin
I got good news for your buddy! According to the Manufacturer, the Ravin's a rifle, not a crossbow!
Those fiberglass thingy's on the sides are just for looks! All he needs to do is rack the slide, load another round, and he's good to go!

Re: Maximum Bolt/Broadhead weight for Matrix 350LE?
Unless you’re planning on flinging steel rebar, you really can’t get too heavy. If memory serves me, (which admittedly, it frequently doesn’t these days), I think the elephant hunters typically used a 1,000-grain fiberglass arrow. I’ve moved up from 450-grain arrows to 600-grains. Sure, in my old 17...

Re: Unhappy Excalibur Owner
The micro bows are awsome mines been trouble free but you are bending the sh....t out of a tiny little limb this is not good. Yep, everyone wants short limbs; the problem in engineering terms is that the strain on the limb is inversely related to the square of the limb length! What that means in pl...

Re: I HATE ticks!!!!!!!!!!!
You’re right about the post-hurricane mosquitoes; they’re really bad right now. This is the most humid “Fall” I can ever recall in North Carolina. Some years it stays hot into Octobed, but at least the humidity drops and it’s a much more tolerable dry heat. I guess when 17 inches of rain drops on th...

Re: I HATE ticks!!!!!!!!!!!
You’re pretty gung-ho to be hunting in this Carolina heat, Kieth. Heck, it’s so hot I can barely stand to get out and mow the grass! It’s been darn humid too.
I wouldn’t even consider it till we get a strong cold front blow through - and none of those are in the ten-day forecast.

Good golly, that’s HUGE! I can’t even wrap my mind around tackling something that size.

Re: Good deal on Badlands daypack?
I have that exact pack, and I like it. That's a great price too! What I really like is it has the straps and a pocket for the buttstock so I can carry my rifle or crossbow hands-free. This is critical for riding a bike down logging roads or walking through brush. My only criticism of it is that the ...

Re: Florence
I’m around Greensboro, NC and hearing the same forecast as billnconnie: 12-inches rain, 30 mph wind. Funny thing is, last month in the first three weeks of August we got 25-inches of rain! Granted, that was over three weeks, but I think 8.5” of it fell in just a few days. NCHunterKW might get it wor...

Re: Tree identification help
It would help if the photo wasn’t out-of-focus. If the tree has wicked long thorns on the trunk, it’s a honey locust. Otherwise it’s likely a Kentucky coffee tree.

Re: Shooting low in winter ( Wi. )
A screw that I’ve found troublesome on my Excalibur is the one holding the scope rail onto the main rail. You have to remove the stock from the rail to see it.
It’s a single #10 screw, I believe.
Undersized, IMO, given what’s asked of it. I think it should be a 1/4”-28.
