I am new at the Vortex also as I have only shot Parkers prior to buying mine last month. Here is mine as set up so far:

No nock needed. It is a FLAT nock and the hole is so an arrow puller can be screwed in to retrieve it from a target. it is threaded same as a fieldpoint or broadhead and Excal makes and sells a puller to screw into it.

You are going to love your Vortex.

Mine has been strung since the day I got it. I have even cocked it and left it cocked for 6 to 8 hrs at a time (overnight) to help the creep along.

I assume you are using the factory string. If so put a twist or two in it and shoot it some. The factory string does not creep real fast and being above the high mark on the barrel does not matter. I have been shooting mine for a month now and it is just now settled in about a string width from the ...

If you shop around you can find the Acudraw 50 for under $100 and it fits excals.

Several of the guys over on the AT site have installed the Acudraw 50 lately. There is a thread there with pictures.

I must be missing something. I am 62, born and raised in the USA. What the heck is a "Permanent resident card"? They must have forgot to issue me one.
