Gonna have a well soon.
Been wanting to put a sand point well at the cabin but being in an area that is mostly gravel I have been unable to get past the rocks  But I recently sold my 13.3 acres of mineral rights in Williston ND and will have a well drilled next week. We are hoping they hit the spring that runs t...

Re: Homemade scent killer
I’ve read that most human scent comes from your breath and your head. Where I hunt, deer can come to my kill plot from any direction. So if the wind takes my scent from my box blind to a certain direction, I just don’t pay attention to that direction. It works for me. Last year I thought I would ke...

Re: Deer meat
My favorite is pressure canned venison. I normally can in pint jars and make a few varieties = A couple slices of Jalapeno's, a half tablespoon of cajun seasoning, a nice thick slice of onion, garlic and pepper... there are many ways to make it. You can eat it like hot beef, or over potatoes, noodle...

Re: What ever happened to the North American Hunting Club?
I remember them and was a member in the hunting and fishing one.
I still have a nifty stringer I was sent to try out and give my report on from the fishing club.
It works great for bank fishing or wading the river like I used to do many years ago.

It would be nice if there was a link in the forums to take us to the site for crossbows and accessories.

Re: Is a shoulder/scapula shot a concern for a modern crossbow hunter?
You could shoot them behind the ear too if it’s something you want to explore. Just saying. :eusa-popcorn: Thats kinda funny because last year rifle season I shot a small doe and texted the brother in-law to bring his UTV and a pail of warm water to wash my hands in. When he got there he said ... w...

Re: Is a shoulder/scapula shot a concern for a modern crossbow hunter?
I hunt with a Matrix 310 pushing less than 285 fps with a total weight of 426 grains with 125 grain naps leading the charge and have had a passthrough on every shot, including a 40 yard broadside shot on a doe eating in a clearing... she never flinched until the arrow had already passed through. Som...

I don't really see a need.
When I was ready to buy my first crossbow I settled on Excalibur after much online research and joined this forum to get some insight on which crossbow to purchase. After input from several members here, and considering my age and health conditions I settled on the Matrix 310. Since that time I have...

Re: Do you feed them through the year?
I star feeding a corn and roasted soybean mixture a couple weeks before season opens, then switch to a deer mix once the snow flies. I stop feeding when the season ends and let them herd up in their winter area about a mile from our property. They come back every spring because we have a creek runni...

Re: I needed a twinstrike tonight!
Congrats on the recovery. Never a fun thing when they don't go down and stay down. My third doe this year was quartering towards me. I let the executioner fly when she was 18 yards away and put her head down to eat. The arrow entered the right side of her neck slicing the jugular and passed through ...
