Re: freezing deer meat

I cut my own deer into the main muscle groups without bones, fat, or connective tissue, then double wrap in plastic with each plastic layer in perpendicular direction to the other, then use gallon freezer bags to put several of the wrapped chunks in and squeeze all the air out. I go a little OCD and...

Re: How do you know when to change strings?

Thanks for ALL the advice guys. I'm doubtful that the string is really dacron after Boo's comments because this string is so much faster than the Flemish string. I based this on my groups from each string in succession without adjusting scope, the Flemish string shot inches lower at 30 yds. I'm susp...

Re: How do you know when to change strings?

Thanks Boo, I did know that it was probably time for a new string but wanted to confirm with some experts. I am not sure if it really is dacron or D97, I was told it was an ABB string and it is solid dark green so local 'experts' told me it was dacron or D97. From the way it shoots, I am inclined to...

Re: How do you know when to change strings?

Thanks Keith, loops appear fine. Anyone else chime in please. Just did 2 more twists yesterday on the Micro 355 and it's getting hard to twist without winding and bunching it up, the BD400 factory string hasn't moved since August. .. but the Dacron or D97 is so much quieter and softer shooting I wan...

How do you know when to change strings?

Let me try a new post... I never really have had any good info on when a string is done. I know if it is frayed under the serving it's time to replace and every few years is often cited but that doesn't take into account which bow, how much you shoot, how long your bow stays cocked and what type of ...

Re: Easier rope cocking? !

I made some full fist size handles for my rope and it was a huge help for me pulling my Micro 355 and BD400. Old broom handle cut to fit your entire hand and drill a hole, chamfer, then use your old rope.

Re: How old is old

I think like I'm 35 but really only 63. If you factor in my leukemia, heart, failing kidneys, ankles, knees, and shoulder...that makes me about 63.5. Definitely not going to rust away, burn out maybe, but not going without a fight. Hunting alot, still pulling my Excaliburs by rope (mostly), exercise...

Re: Micro 355

It may have a lot to do with your height. I am old, 5'8" and 150lbs and have no trouble cocking the Micro355 20 or 30 times and hardly feel it the next day. My BD400 on the other hand, is a lot for me to pull more than a dozen or so times. Now I just do 8-10 shots with the BD400 using the rope ...

Re: 40 Strand Dacron String

With these 'creepy' strings, how do you know when to change them? Someone else suggested unwinding the string and counting the twists. I forgot how many twists were considered the limit. Not sure if that would work very well on Flemish strings. My Micro has spent over 100 hours cocked so far... I ac...

Re: 40 Strand Dacron String

Other than 'creep', are there any more disadvantages of the D97? I have one on a Micro 355 (an endless loop) at the moment and switched it off with a Flemish string (not one of yours though) and the dacron EL was very noticably quieter and faster. It does require me to check brace height often so no...

Re: Micro 355 questions

Thanks guys, I hit up another forum too and the answers are pretty much the same, very little space under the retention bars with a rubber pad on top and bottom of limb. I put a piece of moleskin under the bar and calling it good. I shot it about 30 times before my afternoon hunt and it shoots dimes...

Re: Micro 355 questions

Anybody out there with a 355 that could check out their limb retention bars to see if they are contacting the limbs or if there is a 1/4" gap between the bar and limbs??? Please?

Micro 355 questions

Hi, I just got a Micro 355 and have a couple questions for you guys who are familiar with them. First off, what is the optimal brace height measured from the frontend joint? Secondly, should there be an air gap between the limb retention bar and limb itself? Going by my BD400, there is no air gap be...

Back on the Excalibur train...

 I just couldn't stay away for long, I got a BD400 this spring and just sprung for another Micro 355 today. Haven't decided yet if I get out of the wheeled bows completely and sell my Mission MXB400 or hang on to it for a while longer. I'm having a great time shooting the BD400 and totally ...
