Re: Actual Shot Distance UPDATED
Data Update We have data for 41 kills reported here. Overall the mean shot distance is just over 20 yards, with 90% coming in under 31.8yards. Somwhat interesting is that Buck kills tend to happen at slightly closer yardages. The blue line in the graph is 20 yards. You can see more bucks have been t...

Re: Bowhunting and speed
Great thread. IMO............. the "advantage" speed gets you is a flatter trajectory. But as tradshooter pointed out, hat is not always an advantage. It also gets you a higher KE leaving the bow, but KE does not kill animals, momentum and penetration do. And just as KE increases with the ...

Re: Deer # 4 hit the dirt
Hester0305....how do you go about getting licences for so many deer? Here where I hunt moose, we have to be 2 and sometimes 3 hunters with licences to collect a moose. As for deer in Quebec, I think that there is no way for me to get more than 1 deer. In NC our regular "Sportsmans" licens...

Re: Point blank range for a crossbow?
What would be considered acceptable over/under variation from the point of aim with a crossbow? 2", 3" or even 4"? Before I had a reticle compensating scope I did what wabi does. I started with a 20yd zero and would hold center of killzone out to 25 and "top of the back" fo...

Re: Swacker Broadheads
Mike I shot the same ones last year and hit a small deer a little bit high. Got the top of the lungs but clipped the spine. No pass through. I'll check the total weight of the arrow and let you know what I think the KE was. It was a 20 yd shot with my Vortex and Flemish string and I should have 20y...

Re: Point restrictions
In almost total agreement with that last poster but I have a perfect example of the opposite side of the coin. In the fall of 1997 we drove down to Prescott Arkansas to look at lab puppies, down in what's known as Arkansas' "deer factory". Back then it should have been more apply called &...
