Re: Ontario shopping...
Just about everywhere that sells them has them listed for $999. Of course you could always try dickering a bit, but as a vendor I do know that there isn't a great deal of room to move on price. The cheapest I have seen it listed is at Al Flaherty's in Toronto at $955.99. If you can get there and bac...

Re: Grounded
Dave I will echo some of the comments you have received here. My wife was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's 18 years ago (at the age of 39). She is now 57 and on a cocktail of meds. While I will concede that she is not 100% she is more than stable enough that she climbs the 12 foot step ladder ...

Re: Micro 355 Vs Suppressor?
Thanks for the thoughts. I live in the suburbs and while I shoot in my back yard on a limited basis, its only a matter of time before a nosey neighbor complains. One of the advantages of living in the country - neighbours too far away to be nosey and when they do come over they want me to bring ove...

Re: Nock problems
I had similar issues with Bone Collectors and PileDrivers when using them with (their) factory flat nocks. The best I could figure was that the nock itself was "too slippery" and the string was sliding under the nock once fired causing the partial dry fire. I did take a bit of sandpaper an...

Re: London Cop Shot With a Crossbow
Reading the whole story it sounds like "they" were prohibited from owning any firearms due to previous charges of unsafe storage (got caught with loaded guns laying around) and trying to smuggle high capacity mags across the border. Where a person is convicted, or discharged under section ...

Re: FYI for those who own Barnett's too
Carbon Express has a similar recall going on. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0867/4974/files/Carbon_Express_Press_Release_17-058.pdf?9875544945261019274 The issue with the CE's is that they are "firing" when you engage the safety. This is some of the issues you can expect to see when yo...

Re: Thinking about the New Grizzly
I don't see a crossbow "fit" as important as a rifle or shotgun. I'm 6'1", go 200 pounds. I have a length of pull of somewhat over 15" (15 1/8" on my custom rifle stocks) and draw 31" on my vertical bows. Having said all that I shoot a Vix II and do not find it "to...

Re: The Phoenix has landed
Spend the few bucks and get yourself an Excalibur stringing aid - it has hard plastic (?) loops that go over the limbs connected by a string. Sounds like you have an old style string aid. I had a couple of them with my old Hortons. The end loops were larger. You slipped them over the existing string...

Re: Width??? Has it been a problem?
Since I sell "hunting stuff" I do handle a bunch of brands/models (and get to mess around with them everyday if I want - I love my job) :) Anyhow, I shoot a Vix II and my hunting buddy has an Axiom. We stand hunt but walk in through dense bush - and he tends to wander around. We both have ...

Re: Deer Feeder Question
I have been feeding deer diligently for the past six seasons at the same hunting spot. The first couple of years we did use timed feeders trying to get the deer to come around at dusk/dawn. We had a couple of the Moultrie feeders that hold about 5 gallons of feed and fed dusk and dawn. Piddled aroun...

Re: Rage vs. Boltcutters
You are comparing a mechanical to a fixed head - pro's/con's for each. And I'm with Paul re the Rage heads. I'm a broadhead junkie and test 8 to 10 new ones a year (I sell the stuff so have no shortage of reps tossing me "samples") and in all my "not-so-scientific real world testing&q...

Re: Ladder stands
Before I moved on to permanent stands (self constructed) I had a pair of Big Game (brand) Stealth stands. They were about 15' to the foot rest and had the fixed shooting rail (nice feature - the shoot rail that is). If I had to do it again I would go with one of the various "2 person" stan...

Re: Slug Gun Question
I will post a slightly different answer, and disclose that I sell guns/ammo/hunting supplies - but won't plug any one brand/store etc. There are two very different types of "slugs". There are "Foster" style slugs, usually called "rifled slugs" which are meant to be shot...
