Re: 20" Wyvern custom arrows for Matrix 380
Well this is very important advice I am thinking. Thanks Paul and Boo! I got Jerry from Southshore to suggest a custom arrow configuration a while back using the 18" zombie slayers as follows.. Flat Aluminum Nock, 1 1/8th to 1 1/4 setback Sk 300 vanes set offset 110 insert Shaft weight 162 grai...

Re: Field processing game question
Thanks for that info fellas. I have an 85Litre( I think 92qt) good quality cooler available. If I layer it with thick ice on the bottom and crushed ice on the goods it lasts a couple days camping.

Re: Field processing game question
Yes taking those giant moose apart would be a mission! Townsville is just a few hours from me btw. We got scrub bulls in similar weight class but not many people taking the meat off them here. I'd probably try the backstraps and see if they were not too gamey.

Re: Field processing game question
Thanks mate, I have something that size on hand. Can I ask what the length of the shoulder and hind is cut off at the knees usually for white tail? On another tangent just adjusted my post to say ''North American hunters'' are more into meat recovery than Australians, not just the US. On a Canadian ...

Field processing game question
Hi gents just curious as to weights of the backstraps and rear quarters for various game species you guys hunt on North America? I am thinking of taking these off some local small deer species( axis/chital and fallow deer, 100-220lbs on the hoof) and various sized hogs if they appear clean on inspec...

Re: Suggestions for custom wooden matrix stock?
Regrettably I pulled out for now, the AUD/USD exchange rate a bit brutal at the moment I need to build up arrows and targets and so forth . Not a reflection on Mikes work btw which is obviously incredibly well priced. Apologies to Mike and the forum for the hassle.

Re: Suggestions for custom wooden matrix stock?
I am thinking now of going all the way back to a basic rifle look, as in on this vintage Barnett wildcat.

Obviously with the matrix riser taken into account.

Re: Brand spanking new to crossbows
I am new as well, and did a fair bit of research on crossbows and other implements for short range hunting before I decided. I am barely qualified to comment, as yet I am waiting for my bow to arrive, but as another beginner some of my reasoning might be useful to you. Firstly was crossbows being ea...

Re: Suggestions for custom wooden matrix stock?
Thanks Paul, sounds like its quite doable and a regular idea then. I'll check out those examples. Is it considered a technical enterprise to remove and replace an Excalibur stock with one of these? Do folks normally send their bow in to have it done by the stockmaker for example or can it be done at...

Suggestions for custom wooden matrix stock?
Hi guys I am getting Mike Riesterer to do a custom stock for my first crossbow, a matrix 380 blackout. Though its early to jump into customisations I prefer more traditional looks to thumbholes/skeletonisation and when Mike said he could make more of a ''rifle type'' stock I became interested. I jus...

Re: Range finder doubling for general uses?
Thanks gents, great replies and advice. I am trying to cut down on equipment in the field. I might take a look at the leica to start with and go from there.
