First off, welcome! Glad to see another Minnesotan on here. As far as unstringing... It wouldn't be a bad idea to pull it off if the bow is going to be sitting for nine months.. Would also recommend checking and oiling all your nuts and bolts to prevent surface rust. EDIT: Others may need to correct...

Aside from t-loins, backstrap is one of the best cuts.

I used the grip on mine for a short while, but in my opinion it is mounted too far forward (just a personal thing)... The only valid complaint I have with the supplied grip, is that it does not lock solid when folded down. There is about a 1/4" of play in mine, which makes it feel like a cheap ...
