Re: offspring crossbow or a tenpoint crossbow ?

Galamb, we agree completely. But remember, there are no bargain Barnetts at any price.

Re: offspring crossbow or a tenpoint crossbow ?

I only own Excals(380 & 405) and have owned many compounds over the past 31 years. But if I bought a compound, I'd buy a Mission for a # of reasons, some of which are shared with the Excals. I doubt that I'll own another xbow than what I have for the foreseeable future, but if I do it'll likely ...

Re: Matrix Mega 405 limbs

When I was trying to decide on a M380 or a M405 , I called Danny M. And asked his opinion. He stated the obvious: the more stress on a crossbow, the higher percentage of problems will occur. IE, M405 will have more problems than M380 than M355 than M330 than M310. Excalibur now has 2 very high perfo...

Re: recurve... simply perfect

Well, I think he has sold it off to Bowtech. I don't know how much influence he has on the direction of the company either. In most cases like this, the old owner stays on for the transition phase, inventory, resources, manpower, and personnel evaluations, etc. They usually hang around for a year, ...

Re: Rail Lube

This has been a good, informative thread. I've used a light amt of rail lub(Railsnot), string wax and Scorpin serving Lub on both M380/405. Results: low serving wear, slight and concerning serving separation, and junked up trigger. I've been particularly careful to use rail lub sparingly, still........

Re: new 380 vs 405?

Again, trajectory from yds and beyond is the factor to me. There is a significant 60/70-100 yd difference. If 40-50yds were my max range, I'd own a Mini.

Re: Leupold vx vs vxr

My 380 & 405 is set up like 'racking up points' s. I have Zeiss Duralyt 2-8 lighted. These are great scopes but comparison with VXR 2-7 shows the scopes to be about the same optically and lighted reticle qualities. I found the VXR on Amazon for $480 a few months ago (for a friend of mine). The V...

On Amazon Prime I've been ordering for $32 for 3 with no shipping, no tax for a while. Just got 6 more in this week.

Re: C2 crank favor

I'm still hunting, but primarily transitioning to M380 rather than 405 for these last few days. I have the C-2 ready to ship, if desired, as well as the riser. Additionally, I must be getting younger, as I'm now rope cocking the M405 with no feeling of strain.

Re: Penetration Energy

Some FOC findings. With 380 & 405, Zombies. Increasing FOC beyond 15-16% didn't help(field point) groups but increased FOC(up to 30%) didn't hurt accuracy but greatly increased drop, especially from 70-100 yds. So, increasing FOC beyond that needed for optimum accuracy will give the effect of a ...

Re: Micro 335 vs Matrix 380 which to buy $$

I own fully tricked out 380 and 405. Love both but hunt mostly with 405. Also, have handled and shot 335 quite a bit. The 335 is cute! Reasonably accurate, but I didn't get the 40-60 yd accuracy with the 335 that I get with the 2 Matrix crossbows. The weights of the 3 xbow's are about equal. Size is...

Yes. I'll admit it looks "a bit" big. The reticle looks different from what my understanding has been. We'll see. I'm still optimistic! :D

Nice collection. Appropriate mods, IMO . And to think, I'd gone overboard with 2 Matrixes (380/405)!

Re: New Scope

What level of power do I hunt with? I nearly always have my scope on an optimum setting for the nearest possibility of game appearing. Woods hunting situation: lowest power and 20 yd setting on Optimizer. For the 3 deer I shot at 50-60yds, I was on 8x I think for all of them. I really like to seriou...
