I like to skin mine then let it hang four or five days weather permitting. When I'm ready to butcher it I peel all the dried membrane of the meat,my grandpa use to call it talon.then I debone it vacum seal annd freeze.

I use ear corn the turkeys cant wipe it out as easliy and the deer have to work harder to get a belly full so you have more time to be selective.

I know what you mean,I've spent more time hunting this year than I can ever remember. So far I've seen a small four and six.I have not seen a whole lot of does either. The wind has been terrible, blowing every direction never consistant, plus a huge acorn crop makes it really hard to pattern feeding hab...

So far the rut in S.E. Ohio has been a flop for me.I have seen one small six point [rattled him in]and one four point trailing two does. But the wind has been very inconsistant for a couple weeks.I think I like the second rut and early Jan. for seeing mature bucks.

I've seen deer hit in the legs or just in heavy flesh and bleed very heavy amounts of blood then the wound will clot and the blood trail stops. If this is the case the deer could live.If he does it depends how bad his injury is as to wether he will be back anytime soon.
