Re: Snow
Now that I am retired snow isn't so bad. When I had to fight the roads to get to work every morning, I hated it but dealt with it. Having lived and hunted in Wyoming for many years I got used to the chains on all four tires exercise. Dug myself out of snowbanks many times. Lived in Northern Illinois...

Re: For us with bad backs
Good idea! I am the master fidgeted…it’s why I love the ground blind…most fidgeting is unseen😂 Now…to put the blind in the perfect spot…that’s the trick! I really like my Doghouse ground blind. Have killed a lot of deer out of it with my Exomax. I'm going to set it up in the wilderness area a coupl...

For us with bad backs
I have bad arthritis in my back which makes long sits very uncomfortable and difficult to sit still very long. Having just replaced the memory foam pad in my motorhome I ended up with extra pieces of it after trimming to fit my bed. They are 4 inches thick. I cut them to length and glued them togeth...

Flemish String on Exomax
I think I will put a Flemish string on my Exomax. I have enough experience now to avoid a dry fire and I have the Excalibur ADF in it.
Don’t know if the benefits warrant it or not but sure can’t hurt.

Re: Done for Now
Hammocks of land above the water line will be their bedding area. The smaller they are makes is worse to ease onto with them. They have no problem swimming to them. Water is usually deeper than chest waters, don't ask just things i learned being young n dumb. Swamp deer like being nocturnal. I have...

Re: Done for Now
If you ever need some info about hunting swamps let me know. I have some exp. in my younger life in the next State to the West of Al. My biggest challenge so far has been discovering where the deer bed and travel. Finally found a peninsula with a small land bridge. That's where I saw the 8 or 10 po...

That's my plan. Got a lot of territory to cover.Robinsons Rebel wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 9:41 pmTake some time to scout new areas now if you can before it greens up again. Always find it easier to spot trails, rubs etc during the winter time and you don't have to fight the snakes and mosquitoes.

Done for Now
Was going hunting tomorrow but the rain has really caused me some setbacks. The sloughs are up too high now and the cornfields are so muddy it would be difficult to cross them. Calling it quits until this fall. I learned a lot about the Wildlife refuge and the Sipsey Wilderness. Will have a real hea...

Swamp Hunt
Well haven't been able to get out because of rain and getting ready for trip to Florida. The weather leading up to Monday looks like an excellent opportunity. It will be my last chance to hunt before the trip. Temperature is dropping a lot and I am guessing the bad weather has had the deer locked do...

Re: Other Swamp Hunting Spot
I’d feel more confident if I were seeing does. Have only seen one in the refuge and I jumped her on the way in one morning. Lot’s of tracks though.
