Hey Crazy that 8 pointer a posted Saturday before last was tending a scrape when I let the arrow fly. I'd say the rut here in VA is go for sure by this weekend.

Ok I'm gong to throw in my two cents, 1st don't change what your doing hunt the does, the rubs and the scrapes. You might want to move around a little within the area your hunting but not to far. and always keep the does close if you hunt the does the bucks will come. 2nd get in your stand early big...

Tree stands are great and I have been using them since I was a kid. But everyone needs to remember to wear there safety strap whenever you hunt. Too many hunters get hurt or killed without them each year.

bkisel, I don't carry mine on my person alot but I keep it in my truck.

I think the arrow got deflected when it hit the rib. Thats how it appeared after skinning him out this morning. I was almost positive he was quartering away a little when I shot.

I got a nice 8 pointer to get the monkey off my back for 09 season. I was hunting a stand that I've killed two 8 pointers in past years. This afternoon was cold and windy. The stand is on the very top of a ridge at the top of a mountain so the wind was really bad all evening. I did not have much hop...

I don't like to hunt the wind but I like to hunt the ground in the wind I can sneak around all camoed up . I have seen and killed several deer in the wind. Your scent is swirling all around deer are confused its great for a good spot and stalk sometimes and theres nothing like stalking any size buck...
