Re: 150 grain Boltcutters on Zombie Slayers for bear?

I just got my zombie slayers from wyvern and love them! I ordered more. Dave told me they weigh 430 grain with 100 grain tips. That puts me at 480 grain (and heavy FOC) with my setup. The zombies shoot soooo much better than diablos it's amazing. I put 150 grain field tips on the zombies and had to ...

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

Yes. I will probably took into strings next. Just wore through the serving on my first string (have spares). Watched Boo’s videos on reserving strings. Figured I would collect a few worn strings before I take that on. Probably need to polish trigger latches (or maybe eventually my strings will polis...

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

Just field points. The zombies came from wyvern with 100 grain tips but I put on 150 grain tips because I have a whole bunch of 150 grain Boltcutters that o will use for hunting. They are heavy and probably have a lot of FOC but I think they shoot great. I need to get a proper target for broadheads ...

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

My zombie Slayers arrived today. They are simply amazing. I am ordering more tomorrow. They are a joy to shoot. They go where they are supposed to. I can adjust my scope with confidence. They are extremely accurate.

Re: Mushy dead zone scope

New warantee scope shoots great. Sighted in at 30 yards. Hit bullsey off my knee at 70 after tuning the speed ring. (Btw. Had to spend hours this weekend testing and marking cock vanes (using my sons bow) to make the Diablos more accurate.) My Zombie Slayers arrive tomorrow and can’t wait to test th...

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

Thanks a lot. Sorry I got a little abstract on you guys last night. I work a lot of weekends and yesterday was my first Friday in a long time. I was just in a good mood and trying to be funny. And by the way, I’m not really that frustrated, the bows are really a lot of fun to shoot. Spinning arrows ...

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

No. I just served 4 years at Malmstrom missle base in Montana. I’ve been a civilian for years. Anyway, I got 4 more arrows tuned to about 3/4” today. Now both of my sons have a quiver full of arrows that group well. I am still waiting on my warrantee replacement scope. It will arrive next week and I...

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

All of my screws are tight (except upstairs). And, Ferguson, you seem like a great guy. I was in the military too but never went to war. I was an Air Force psychiatrist.

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

I don’t know much about the Diablos other than they are the ones that came with the bows and I bought a bunch more to have fun shooting with figuring my sons would abuse them (heck the ones I’m using are getting quite beat up with all the shooting I’m doing.) perhaps this summer, after a bunch of fl...

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

I am so sorry you are having all of these troubles bro. My diablos are accurate, never spun or weighed a head in my life. My factory excalibur setup is akin to my M-77 All-weather and off the shelf Federal Blue Box...Dependable, accurate, and deadly. Someone else did the “Art & Science” for me....

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

I think I am beginning to understand. I spun and marked 4 arrows and was able to get 3 to group within 1/2” of each other. With turret adjustments, I was able to reproduce this and get them touching (separate) 1/2 inch circles on the target. I couldn’t get the 4th arrow close so I grabbed a couple o...

Re: 150 grain Boltcutters on Zombie Slayers for bear?

About shot placement. I read an article about the bear's vitals being closer to the middle of the animal compared to deer. This article said that rather than aiming behind the shoulder (as in a deer), aim for the "middle of the middle" (i.e. basically the middle of the body mass). I read t...

Re: Sighting in Diablos off a bench (frustrating)

The snow is melting. I’ll set up a table and chair and stiff pillow on a dry spot of the driveway. I think I’ll just do a quiver full (4) arrows at a time and toss aside the real bad flyers.

150 grain Boltcutters on Zombie Slayers for bear?

Spring bear season is just a few weeks away and I want to hunt the problem bear that terrorizes my place every spring and fall. I bought some 18” Zombie Slayers from Wyvern. Not sure of the exact specifics but they were the Zombies specifically made for Excalibur bows. I believe they are 300 grain (...
