Probably the easiest way to avoid coming into contact with a bear is to follow an old hikers trick...fasten a small bell on your outer clothing when you venture into the woods. This will make a dinging noise and provide bear with advance notice of your approach. Most often a bear will prefer to leav...

camo painting
Just thought I'd report back with some good news/information. Surprisingly the acrylic camo paint on my shotgun is standing up rather well. After a week of use and handling in our controlled deer hunt (Perth County) the only signs of paint missing shows up along outside corners and edges of the rece...

When you go in the morning take someone else along with you. A fresh set of eyes can really help. As long as it's cold your doe should be fine overnight. Good luck.

ladder stand
I bought the same one made by Gorilla from CTC ($160 on sale). It comes complete with body harness and is easy to assemble. The shooting rail is the perfect height for rifles but you'll find it a little high for crossbows yet when you are standing up, it's in the right place if you venture too far. ...

Ya I think when you are in the immediate area, still dressed, still sweaty, see YOUR arrow in a deer and knowing THIS deer was the one you hit, you should have stopped and talked to them. They will recognize immediately what's going on and hopefully be cooperative. You can always split the deer with...

adding camo
I just finished painting a shotgun in a camo pattern. I found some acrylic paints (artist supplies) at Walmart that were about a dollar each. They are flat colours with no gloss. With about 3 colours you should be able to blend and get enough variation. If the result is not what you like, let it dry...

Typical/non-typical, opinions please
Here's a couple views of the rack I took October 30. Very roughly it scores about 142 gross. My neighbour told me about FROW and felt it may meet their requirements. Could anybody who knows please advise whether this is typical or non-typical. http://www.printroom.com/album_thumb15/81516/20061125012...

Rem copper slugs in an 870
Several people in our group have rifled 870 barrels and we all use the Rem copper slug. We figured Remington did all the testing and designing so they should work in their barrels... definitely give them a try. Remember there are exceptions to every rule so start out with an assortment of about thre...
