Take some time to scout new areas now if you can before it greens up again. Always find it easier to spot trails, rubs etc during the winter time and you don't have to fight the snakes and mosquitoes.

I've never field dressed deer myself. Even in the hot weather down here. I do get gutted and skinned and put on ice in a timely manner though. Has anybody been able to find any hunting ammo this year? Was hoping to see better instock for hunting season but that has not been the case down here. Haven't found any .30-06 or .45-70 that i use in over a year.

Thinking about upgrading one of my rifle scopes to to a illuminated Vortex 3x9x40 mm scope. It'll have the small dot in the middle of the cross hairs. Is it even worth having? Anybody have one that used the illumination that helped them kill their deer? I guess I see myself still buying one because ...

I always hunt the freshest sign. Still have to play the wind etc. But yes, whats hot today might not be hot in a day or two.

Anybody ever use deer meat in a Chinese food recipe? Thinking about giving it a try.

Hooks up for no other reason than that's the only way I've always done it.

Myself, I like to be in about 30 minutes before first light. I'm able to cool down and relax. Where I hunt now, I never hear the deer, they just appear. Plus, I've never killed a deer at first light.

How early do you like to be in your stand before daylight?

I still have about another month to go down here. Ya'll making me jealous!
