Re: Tested some Excals today
I think Micros demonstrate less noise and vibration than the Matrix line even when the REDS is in place. I think it has to do with the Micro's shorter length limbs and string than it does with improperly sized bumpers. Excalibur's bumpers should be roughly 3/8" longer to offer their full potent...

Re: BD400 and 20" Arrows
If all of the sources I've read are correct, then the 2" difference in overall length will improve accuracy because the added length places the fletching further back from the leading point which allows the fletching to better stabilize and steer the arrow. I've thought about adding length to m...

Nice deal there. $80 is lower than dealer pricing on the originals. Too bad Midway doesn't throw in free shipping. I'd buy it and make it my travel target.

Re: Had a great first day great to be out
Always good to see a doe with a pair of fawns. You know she's a good momma. I don't think temps have all that much to do with deer movement in the early season because the deer still have their thinner summer coats. We here in Wisconsin have had a hot summer which has continued into September, and I...

Yep. And good luck to all of you as well. I took a coyote opening morning with my vertical bow. The only bucks I saw were on my trail cam SD cards.

Re: Vert bow opinions
If I were looking for a compound bow to shoot with fingers, I would seek out an archery shop that does a significant amount of business with target shooters rather than seeking out a shop that caters exclusively to bowhunters. The reason being that in today's world, most bowhunting bows are short ax...

Re: 500+ grain bolts. Too much??
I did a search for Gold Tip Nitro Pros and found this thread. Thanks for a great laugh. The mother-in-law comment was classic and the imagery of the bolt flying 100 yards through the air after passing through the hog was hilarious as well. You have to love this forum.

Re: Arrow: Exit or No Exit ?
Well, last fall I didn't get a pass through on the tree stump I stuck my arrow into. I shot over the deer's back with my traditional bow. I would say the density of the wood stopped that one. Haha. But to add to the others' input, some of my vertical bow friends hunt from nose bleeding heights and I...

$260 for a flashlight? I think I'll pass. And you have to be careful about relying on Amazon.com reviews. Companies often stuff their reviews with chosen "customers" they give products to.

That's great. I have two daughters, well one already here and one about three months away, and I think the crossbow is an excellent way to introduce them into the shooting sports.

Re: Custom Arrows or Have i been Shafted
If you aren't inclined to do your own fletching then check out the work done by your local archery shop. If more people would support local archery businesses rather than shopping online we wouldn't have to drive three hours to check out bows and other good stuff or worse pay over a thousand dollars...

Re: Feedback on hunting arrow combinations
According to multiple sources, including arrow manufacturers and competitive shooters, the downside to having too much weight forward of center is that your arrow will not fly with optimum trajectory but instead will experience premature nose diving. On a 30 yard shot with a quick bow you likely won...

Re: Illinois max weight limit
I would hate to live in IL even though much of the state is conservative and has good deer hunting. It's bad enough to live next door to it and have to listen to all of the Chicago land residents who feel compelled to tell us in Wisconsin how we need to change to become more like them. No thanks.
