Re: BC Proposal to BAN Scopes on Crossbows

X2 My thoughts exactly. The point of reducing the effectivness is not for wounding but for the effectivness in killing more game. If the number of harvested animals goes up to unacceptable rates during the archery season which is traditionally for less effective types of equipment then the season o...

Re: BC Proposal to BAN Scopes on Crossbows

I fully understand what they're saying. What I'm saying is that it's ridiculous and I don't understand how any crossbow hunter/shooter thinks this is okay. It's not! I'm also against the exclusion of scopes on compounds as that's equally as stupid.

Yes but it is my understanding that this for all bows not just crossbows.
Wow! That's completely ridiculous. Perhaps you should lead by example...maybe look for a low poundage bow like a Vixen and cut the rail down. After all, no need for that crazy speed. :eusa-think:

Re: diablo bolts

I do the soldering iron thing with a 30 watt and use a wet paper towel wrapped around the shaft it takes a little longer but I NEVER had a damaged arrow using this method. you can pick up a iron from Walmart for 6.00 and run a 8/32 die on the tip and your in business. W.M. What a brilliant idea!!! ...

Re: BC Proposal to BAN Scopes on Crossbows

A rifle is not used in a primitive weapon or archery season ! Many jurisdictions do not allow the use of scopes during muzzleloader seasons. I know that rifles not allowed during archery season but the topic is about scopes maybe being banned. Yes scopes being banned during archery seasons ! I'm cu...

Re: BC Proposal to BAN Scopes on Crossbows

I think the Ravin, Sub 1, Scorpyd, etc... have little to do with it. This is pure elitism and for whatever reason, a loathing of crossbows. I know this from over 30 years of vertical archery. Over half of that qas a highly competitive level. Prior to my discovery of crossbows I was merely indifferen...

Re: BC Proposal to BAN Scopes on Crossbows

I am beyond angry at this short sighted stupidity! This is ammunition for the anti-hunters...and it's being spearheaded by supposed hunters. I promise this, if they are successfully with this ridiculous ban, causing such great divisions within the hunting community, I will happily give ammunition to...

Re: freezing deer meat

I don't really like freezer paper, if I knew I'd be using within 45-60 days, it would be OK but not my first pick, too many freezer burn experiences and paper taste. My OCD method is to wrap tightly and generously in plastic wrap and then vacuum seal that bag. Sometimes vacuum seal bags lose their ...

Re: Smokers ?

I started with a Big Chief, then a Bradley 4 rack digital smoker, then got more serious and got a Camp Chef 36" Pellet Smoker (which is the clear winner by a long shot), then added a Masterbuilt Pro XL propane to the collection, and recently purchased a Weber Kettle Performer. I'm a foodie with...

Re: Compound Crossbows

say you are four+ hours from home in rural area out of state on a multiple day hunt...I know what bow I want with me. With a spare string and bow restringer. I can be back in action in minutes not hours or days hoping to find an open pro shop with xbow press. I've been a certified level II tech for...

Re: Expanded my my Culinary techniques

Congratulations Jeff. I've had a Bradley 4 rack digital for years now. I upgraded to it from my Big Chief. It's great at very low temp smoking so things like salmon and jerky are excellent. A couple suggestions, buy extra racks, flip them upside down and stack them on your existing racks. It's an ex...
