Re: Bohning Fletch Tape
feathers look nice and add arrow wrap with those and you got yourself awesome arrows. I just took all gateway feathers off my arrows, back to vanes for better steady grouping. hand cut feathers make it hard for small grouping but I'm still keeping some arrows with turkey feathers... cause they look...

Re: Bohning Fletch Tape
Would it be a good choice to use to get good feather combos and then take them off and glue them? I'm thinking of taping them on to try them out and check flight and then glue later. As you know the feathers are not quite as uniformly made as a vane and I sometimes need to swap one out for one reaso...

Bohning Fletch Tape
Was thinking of trying the Bohning fletching tape with some Gateway Rayzr feathers. Anybody have experience with tape? Wondering if it will hold up to some prolonged target sessions.

Re: Buffalo Arrows Ready to Test
Nice...That there is some momentum and ke. You got that right. I'm all about the momentum. The last time I went, I used the same setup with a 100gr Montec. I was able to get the BH through the animal each time, but only 1 arrow passed through. Bison and extremely tough, and I had to shoot him 3 tim...

Re: Buffalo Arrows Ready to Test
Did I understand correctly, buffalo as in bison? I'm guessing you're going to a ranch somewhere? What are you after and what kinda size have they got? Yeah. American Bison. I am going to a place in Nebraska called Sandhills Outfitters. I shot one out there in Jan 2013. Real nice setup. The bison ar...

Buffalo Arrows Ready to Test
Finished these guys last night. I hope to test them out this weekend. Total Weight = 425gr Easton FMJ shafts, bras inserts, Blazer vanes. I intend to tip them with 150gr Magnus Stingers for a total weight of around 575gr http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r482/kwillwfnc/photo1.jpg http://i1168.phot...

Insert Glue
Started building some arrows the other day and needed some insert glue. I was going to use the blue top Gorilla glue, but saw this instead and gave it a try......it is Loctite Super Glue - Extra Time Control. It comes in a very well designed bottle that allows you to really control the application, ...

Re: Small diameter strings?
I'd worry about a very small diameter string slipping under the arrow and creating a partial dry fire. I've had that happen with a FFF string and some plastic nocks on some arrows.

Re: Fletching Alignment
If I am building new arrows and am going to shoot 3 blade BHs then I go ahead and line up the fletchings and blades. But mostly I shoot 2 or 4 blade BHs so it's a moot point. I have sometimes been able to get a particular arrow to shoot better by doing that (use a small O ringon the BH) but just as ...

Re: Plastic or Aluminum Nocks?
I've been using plastic for a long time, there lighter not hard on the string as alum sometimes can be, I use feathers so at the tail end of my sticks is 20grs which allows me to shoot any BH I want. plastic nock 14grs, 3 or 4 '' feathers 6grs total weight for 3= 20grs Wes Ever try the 2" Rayzr...

Re: Intresting POI shift
How about something like giant sized cat whiskers tied onto the sides of the stirrup? I am thinking they would absorb vibration pretty well.

Re: Intresting POI shift
It was a really stretchy kind of rubberized tape - I think it's called Magic Tape or something. You can use it to fix a puncture hole in PVC in a non-pressure line like a drain or something, and it works great for that. So it did not add much to the thickness of the stirrup, but I did not check that...

Re: Serratted Blade Broadheads?
I have avoided serrated BHs because: #1) as I understand it, a serrated blade does more tearing of the tissue than a very sharp straight blade. The body (deer or otherwise) responds to tissue trauma by sending clotting agents (chemicals platelets etc.) to the wounded area. Tearing tissue is more tra...
