Re: Some excalibur hating at my local shop

The 2 bigger shops near me both carry Excalibur and both try to steer me toward something else whenever I go over to handle them. They did the same with the Mission xbows. I let them talk, badmouth, and dig themselves into a pretty deep hole. I eventually told them that I own and love my Mission MXB...

Re: Flemish vs Excal stock string for Micro 355

Thanks guys, I am learning...slowly. Going to chrony eventually to see what the actual difference between strings turns out. If a just few fps, then I agree the Flemish strings are nicer to shoot and will use them for everything. If it's 20 fps or more, I would rather lose that by increasing the arr...

Flemish vs Excal stock string for Micro 355

Forgive me please, I am new to recurves and going up a steep learning curve and this forum is the place to lean for sure. Today I switched off my DM Fleming string and put a stock string back on. I weighed them while both off, factory string was 78 grains and Flemish was 118 grains. I expected a dif...

Re: SCOPE FOR BULLDOG 400

I compared a lot of high end scopes last week and I too ended up with a Nikon Bolt, it is very bright even when compared to scopes costing 3X the price. Still hanging on to the XB30 that came on my Micro just in case...but the size and weight of the Nikon is perfect.

Re: Who's shooting executioners out of a micro

I have 4 Executioners with 110 grain inserts and aluminum nocks and just made 4 more with 92 grain and plastic nocks. I have 100 grain tips on the heavy inserts and 125 grain on the lighter ones all cut to 16.25" . They are within a couple grains of each other but the 125 tips give a little mor...

Re: Finally got my Micro 355, now for a scope...which one?

Just got back in from a good little workout with the Micro 355. This old man was surprised to do 55 shots without any pain - yet. :? Would have done a lot more if the deer flies weren't so fierce. I zeroed at 20 yds and the first 2 circles were dead on at 30 and 40 yds so a nice 10 yd gap. Go...

Re: Finally got my Micro 355, now for a scope...which one?

Nikon bolt.zero at 27 or 30 yard and forget about the circles. Shoot at 20,25,30,35 and you'll know what it's doing. Chances are the deer is going to come out and you won't know exactly how far away it is anyway. I mean let's be honest here ... You could throw a tennis ball that far. Pretty much wh...

Re: Finally got my Micro 355, now for a scope...which one?

I handled many different scopes yesterday, Leupold, Vortex, Nikon, Swarovski, Burris, some were for rifle or shotgun to get the sense of size, weight, clarity and light gathering. All the high end rifle scopes proved why they were so expensive. Once the price went over $400 they were all great and L...

Re: Finally got my Micro 355, now for a scope...which one?

Thanks, never thought of the 1-4 Leupold straight tubes. I love the old style circle reticle on my old XB30 so maybe the turkey reticle would be perfect and give me a couple extra aim points. On my way to Dick's to see how the Nikon and Leupold compare in brightness. Sure can't afford the VX R thoug...

Re: Finally got my Micro 355, now for a scope...which one?

Robert,
I would like a light scope and the Crossbones is 1/2 weight of the XB30 but didn't care for the length of the Leupy. Maybe I could change my mind...looking for ideas. Considering a reflex sight too like a Burris FF III.

Anthony, got a picture of the Micro with a Leupold on it?

Finally got my Micro 355, now for a scope...which one?

It's been 2 years on my mind and finally got my Micro. Actually got a Ravin R9 and after a month sold it to buy the Excalibur. It was a nice bow but just the opposite of an Excalibur, lot of complexity and stuff to fail and a pain to work on. Last year I almost pulled the trigger on a Suppressor but...

Re: Why does most justify a crossbow with an injury??

My state, like many others, only allowed crossbow use if you had a Doctor's form saying that you were not able to use a hand drawn and fired bow until last year. We saw lots of people 'cheat' and get permits when they were perfectly fine to shoot a vertical bow. They did it because it's easier to ha...

Re: Do you worry about leaving your recurve cocked for exten

Great info, thanks guys you are making me feel better about it. I totally missed out on the concept of limbs having same stress whether 280 lbs is 'let off' by cams or not and that makes the point irrelevant I guess.

Do you worry about leaving your recurve cocked for extended

I am about ready to buy a Micro 355 but have a few reservations. Now have a wheeled crossbow and there is a lot of let off when it's cocked so I don't think much about leaving it cocked everyday dark till dark for several months. Yes, I do let it down at night because it's not legal to transport it ...
