Re: My wife kills buck #2 an 8 pt
Congrats!! That's great. If I left my wife with a cocked crossbow, she'd mow down the whole herd for sure. I have a great video of her shooting effortless bull's eyes in her bathrobe and hair curlers. She has no interest in hunting, though. I think she doesn't want to bruise my fragile ego by being ...

Re: Max range would you say is far enough?
There are a lot of ways I could respond to the turn this thread has taken, invoking the DSM-5 being one, but it seems the only appropriate way is to reinforce why and how I hunt. Like others here, I want to be a supremely effective killer, not because I get off on killing, but BECAUSE I CARE. It mat...

Re: Max range would you say is far enough?
A deer wandering in on it's own, head down and pointed away, calm slow smooth movements would be my green light I'm curious about the head down business. I used to always wait for head down and grazing because I assumed it meant a relaxed animal, but then someone shared the video I shared above, af...

Re: Max range would you say is far enough?
I've heard some opine that beyond 60 yards, or so, the sound of the bow actually stops being an issue, and that string ducking is worst from 30-60 yards. Beyond that and the arrow takes them by surprise. Anyone have anything to say about that? I'm not particularly interested in putting it to the tes...

Re: Max range would you say is far enough?
The ethics, in my opinion, have far less to do with how accurately you can shoot and more to do with deer reaction time. At 30 yards, a deer can react significantly to the sound of the bow and the tell-tale pffffffffft of the approaching arrow. Even more so the further out you go—regardless of wheth...

Re: Used Nightmare or new axe
I own a 335 Nightmare, and I love pretty much everything about it. That said, I did just have to replace a splintered limb; not that it was a big deal. However, I think I would probably choose a new Axe over a used 335, and you can add on the extra accessories over time, if needed. My reasoning is p...

Re: Limb Just Snapped!!
A limb on my Micro 335 splintered recently. The warranty department had me back in action in less than a week. I know it's traumatic and the down time is a bummer, but only a minor blip in the big picture. Now, if it had snapped and knocked over your last beer you'd have something to cry about, thou...

Re: POI shifting
While most of my accuracy issues have been traced back to having a loose screw (double entendre intended), I also have noticed my tendency to shoot a little to the right until I've warmed up/taken a few shots. When I botch a shot, I almost always do it by pulling rather than squeezing the trigger. B...

Flemish Twist Question
Hi again. I've become a bit crossbow obsessive the last couple of weeks, and I've decided to try making a Flemish twist string for my Matrix 330. I tried once about a year ago and my first attempt nearly came unraveled on the bow. I've gotten the courage to give it another try. So my question is, is...

Re: What is a good FOC
I saw your post, which got me to asking the same question. I really hadn't thought of it much because for the longest time I just used the stock Excalibur bolts and broadheads, which I figured had to be well balanced if they sold them that way. Over the last year I switched to BEA Executioners, and ...

Re: Comfortable shooting distances while hunting.
Very important question to be asking, and as said above has a lot to do with personal comfort. It's also critical to understand the animals you hunt, and to be able to read their body language. Strictly speaking, I'd say the "perfect" shot is 20 yards, because at that distance there's very...

Center Serving Advice
Hi again. Seems I post on here in spates. Here's a question for string makers. I've been making my own endless loop strings now for several years, and I've been happy with the result. I decided to make a new string for my Micro while I'm waiting on my replacement limbs, mostly to give myself somethi...

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. As always, the warranty department fired up right away and new limbs are in the mail.
