Re: best crossbow target

Thanks for all the responses.

I'm thinking about the Morrell 400 FPS target. I've seen them for $69 delivered.

I'd make an "old clothes bag" target, but after dropping all this $$$ on the new Bulldog and accessories, I'll be wearing MY old clothes!!

Re: Matrix 405 or Bulldog

I'm brand new to the crossbow world and I have been doing a ton of research on which xbow to buy. I have decided on Excalibur Bulldog. I was strongly looking at the Matrix 405 but they seem to be discontinued for this year. Well I just found a 405 pkg for $899. Which is a huge saving but I'm nervou...

Re: Dr. Stirrup Question

just installed the set on a 380 for a friend and he seems to like it . one thing I did notice is that Excalibur cut the stem that holds the bumpers in half I mean they cut the ball in half. that way the stock bumper last a bit longer. the Dr. Stirrup bumper wears like iron. you set the string so it...

best crossbow target

Other than a deer, what is generally thought to be the best crossbow practice target.

I have an older block, but it was hard to pull out arrows from my vertical bow, going to be brutal with a crossbow.

Re: Matrix 405 or Bulldog

I'm in the same situation you are. Buying my first crossbow.

I went Bulldog on recommendation from experienced friends, but then again I didn't find a 405 package for $899 either!!

From what I've seen,that's a great price.

Re: Bulldog

I got to shoot my bulldog today. Typical excalibur, awesome bow. I only got to shoot out to 40 yards but kept quarter size groups. One thing was I had a heck of a time pulling arrows out of a rag bag type target but arrows come out of spider target with 2 fingers. I have no idea what target to use ...

Re: Scope mounting

Any Zeiss optics you have will be superior to the lesser quality Chinese made scopes. Pairing your Zeiss with an HHA Optimizer will be a great fit. Go with the lowest rings you can. PM me if you need a hand with any setup. I've played with these a lot. Paul Thanks, I appreciate the offer. I'm not p...

Re: Scope mounting

Thanks for the feedback. I've never set up a crossbow before and I appreciate the knowledge I can gain here to help me avoid any pitfalls and shorten my learning curve. The Zeiss is a scope that I bought for a rifle that I ended up selling and it was just sitting here. I didn't get it specifically f...

Scope mounting

OK, in my never ending "new crossbow shooter" questions (and I appreciate all the help): I have a new Bulldog 400 on the way, basically a full size Matrix as I understand. I am going to us a HHA Optimizer and start with a regular rifle scope on top, a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 that I had avail...

Re: Excal brake pads

Yes, I am getting the air brakes, glad to know they work.

I wanted to know about the brake pads.

They stick on to the inside of the limbs and are supposed to cushion the string slap and reduce noise.

Trigger tech trigger lever

Another new Excal set up question.

I'm getting a Trigger Tech single stage.

Should I just use my factory Excal trigger or is the trigger tech trigger level (red one) make any difference?

Excal brake pads

OK, setting up my new Excal, I am getting the air brakes, but what about the brake pads that stick onto the limbs.

Supposed to help quiet the string slap.

Do they work, are they worth having?

Re: Lighted nocks

....glad to see you have had such luck with the Lumenoks...there really is not much not to like...as for the Ignitors from Nu-Fletch...you DO NOT have to turn them on. They light up by impact of the string hitting the nock...you do have to deal with an insert which either has to be glued in or I sn...
