Re: New Guy ?
You can swap out the stock nocks for lighted ones, but frankly, if you have the cash then buy new bolts and install the brass inserts and the lighted nocks in those. Use the Diablos for practice. To swap the nocks, you need to screw a metal bolt into the nock threads, heat the metal bolt up until yo...

Re: Shot a Doe Sunday evening at 20yds!
The coyotes are much too numerous down here. I have changed my outlook for the early season (for me that means prior to October 28) because of it. I head out 70/30 with the intentions of shooting a coyote. I shot one so far this year and saw two of them my last morning out, but couldn't get a shot a...

Re: String twists
To me, a string with too many twists looks like it has kinks in it rather than being relatively smooth and uniform. This picture is a little fuzzy on my phone, but that string looks fine to me twist wise.

That's a neat looking deer. I'd let him walk too. Wouldn't it be great to have such a unique animal around for three or four years at least?

Re: My Exocet 200 for tomorrows opening day and some rut inf
I always appreciate the photos of vitals. It's crazy how far off some 3D targets set their vitals and I wonder how many deer suffer the consequences of shots being too far back, shots which some of these 3D targets invite and reward. I read every year about 2nd ruts and doing so no doubt helps motiv...

Re: Browning Strike Force Hd
I like my two Browning Dark Ops cameras. The model has a quick trigger speed, takes only 6 batteries, is solidly built, has been hassle free for two or three years now, and doesn't spook deer with a flash or red glow. Someone mentioned that moultrie makes the Browning cameras. I also have a moultrie...

Holy smokes! Is that the entrance or the exit wound that is visible in the photograph? Well done.

Re: recurve bow build
50# Kodiak Magnum has 3/16" thick limbs (maple/fiberglass)
55# Damon Howatt Stealth has 1/4" thick limbs (zebrawood laminated)
55# Hoyt Tiburon has 5/32" thick limbs (maple/fiberglass/carbon, I think)
I measured these with a tape measure, not a caliper.

Re: recurve bow build
The lower your brace height the more likely you are to get some nasty wrist slap, and 6" is pretty low for a recurve. Frankly I would shoot for 7" to 8" and see where vibration was the least. If you buy a string rather than tie one yourself, ask the string builder how many twists are ...

Re: crazy compact crossbow
There will always be recurve crossbows just like there will always be recurves. I will always own both, no doubt. As far as Excalibur advancements, I think they should mainly work on decreasing vibration and sound. Could you imagine an Excalibur that had a quiet thump like a well tuned longbow with ...

Re: Shortening Wyvern creations a bit
Better choose your targets carefully. That bow will easily send 15" of length into most targets, bags and blocks alike. Crossbow targets can run 18" thick. How are you going to pull your short little bolts out when the entire length is hidden somewhere inside the target? I've seen similar ...

Re: crazy compact crossbow
Pretty cool. I saw this bow coming out even before I knew it existed. Getting rid of the rail made sense. There is no need for it. Compound bows shoot overt 350 fps without a rail. Removing the rail helps reduce friction, increasing speed and saving wear and tear on the serving. I also knew that cam...
