2020 Oklahoma Crossbow Buck (the sequel)

My youngest son hunted at my place in NW Oklahoma last week and bagged a really nice 13 point buck with my Micro 335.

Re: crossbow scopes

I’ve never used “crossbow” scopes on my crossbows. Regular rifle scopes have served me well. I’ve got an illuminated Zeiss Diavari on one and an illuminated Leupold VX3 on the other, and both have accounted for nice bucks in the last couple weeks.

Re: Decock or shoot after hunt

I’ve got a target set up at my house, and I shoot my bow after every hunt (usually multiple times).

Re: Persistence

My experience has been just the opposite. I’ve sat in the stand one time and saw 10 bucks and 3 does. There’s a thread on here as to how that one sit turned out. I’m done for the season.

As the title says, persistence is the key, and I can assure you that this season is an anomaly for me.

Re: Hunting clothes what is your go to?

It never very cool for deer season in Texas and Oklahoma, so I’ve worn blue jeans and a camo shirt for years. Since my Dad died in ‘14, I wear one of his old camo shirts when I hunt at my place in Oklahoma. I had that shirt on Thursday evening when I killed my buck.

2020 Oklahoma Crossbow Buck

I’ve hunted this buck for two years and finally got to see him “in person” on Oklahoma opening evening (Thursday 10/1). He showed up just before dark and presented a quartering away shot at 29 yards. After the shot, I had to stay in the stand for nearly an hour to let the rest of the deer leave the ...

Re: Selling a Crossbow

It's sad but this time of year I'm seeing like 500 bucks on local craigslist for that bow . Best bet is our classifieds on the forum at least this audience appreciates the bow lots of matrix bows being sold . This is a “friend” deal, so that’s actually the price I was thinking. I’m not one to try t...

Selling a Crossbow

I’ve got 5 crossbows and have a friend looking to upgrade his, and he’s asking me to sell him one. He really wants my M380, but I really have no idea what to ask. It’s a 2014 bow and just got a set of new limbs last fall, and I have a quiver, Munchmount quiver holder, 2 Boo made Force 10 strings, an...

Re: High performance string vs stock

I couldn’t believe there was much difference in strings until I tried a Force 10, and the difference to the stock strings on my Micro and M380 was very noticeable.

Re: Warranty work

I didn’t realize until it happened to me and heard it for myself, but the limb “crack” is very audible.

I had my Micro 335 and Matrix 380 both crack a limb within a week of each other last fall, and Excalibur made them both right with about a week turn around.

Re: Snake Bit on Limbs! Pic

After hundreds of shots with my Micro 335, I had a limb crack on a hunt last October. Fortunately, I keep my Dad’s old Ibex at my place in OK as a back up. I was back up and going in about 30 minutes, but it still sucked. Excalibur warranted the limb, but now I’m gun shy of the bow. I’ve got it scop...

Re: Worl Sharp

We have the KO edition. It re-sharpens ok. I read and followed the instructions several times but I cant get a knife "shaving sharp". Most of the time they turn out better than they were but I always see these guys on TV shaving arm hair or cutting paper. I can't get anything that sharp. ...

Re: Worl Sharp

In my experience, for actual sharpening, a Lansky is hands down better than a Work Sharp, but my Work Sharp works great for “touching up” a blade.

Re: Free Reign

In my opinion, the only thing you can hope for on 3.5 acres is that the deer will frequent your corn feeder instead of the neighbors. Anything more than that is just for show. I’ve got 360 acres in NW OK and 200+ acres here in TX, and I plant over 30 acres of food plots on each place as well as feed...
