Re: Axiom value

When the model discontinued we sold off the Axiom's (synthetic rail) for $399 Canadian which was about 250'ish off the regular price.

Re: Chinese made broadheads

There is a huge misunderstanding about "how much" an actual brick/mortar retailer actually makes. People hear about Apple making billions and assume the phone store in the mall is doing as well. Our "break even" point - or "not for profit" if you like is a margin of 12....

Re: How fast are our arrows actually traveling at 100 yards ?

A few of us at work jiggered around with a 355 Matrix. We couldn't shoot further that 70 yards (space limitations) but did measure the speed and drop over that distance. What was surprising to us was the loss of speed stayed fairly consistent right at about 4 fps for every 10 yards. We assumed at &q...

Re: Chinese made broadheads

That was kinda my point. There is no doubt that some were "reverse engineered". Others come in exactly the same packaging. We ordered about a half dozen fleabay broadheads to compare to the "real stuff" right from the wholesaler. In particular the (chinese) NAP products showed up...

Re: FPS v. Penetration

If you have a few evenings to do some intense reading you should google Dr. Ashby's penetration tests. He did heaps of studies on "just killed" African game (mostly) using different arrow weights at different speed with dozens of different broadheads. While the tests were all done with ver...

Re: Chinese made broadheads

I'm a vendor and practically every archery accessory arrives in master cartons (brown cardboard boxes) from China. Many of the "domestic companies" don't even package their product over here. Now, I get the argument that they (domestics) have their product made "over there" to th...

Re: String tracker

So it was easy on my bow because it originally had sights. I removed the sight pin on the front mount, bolted on a bushing and screwed the tracker into it. On a bow without the sight mount I would fashion a bracket of some sort to mount it. Here's a couple of pics - a little fuzzy - sorry :) http://...

Re: Finally Out Priced.

In 1957 my Dad bought a brand new rifle for moose hunting. He paid $137 for a Rem 740, 30.06 (I have the receipt :) ) In 1957 the average weekly wage in Ontario was $72/week and the minimum wage was somewhat under a dollar. So a "half decent" hunting rifle cost about 2 weeks wages. In 2017...

Re: String tracker

I'm still a fan and won't hunt without mine. I did test it extensively in my back yard range when I first installed it. I didn't notice any (sound). I burned through a half dozen 300 yard spools (got a half dozen shots per spool) and never had a tangle. I don't attach it to the arrow until I'm in th...

Re: Scope Guys

Just to spell out what Boo stated I will illustrate with say the BDC scope on my 223. If I zero the crosshairs at 100 yards the next hash (200 yards) represents a drop of 0.9", the 300 yard mark has is a drop of 5.5" from the crosshairs point of aim. If my bow was making 305 fps and I zero...

Re: Hunting in the rain?

I've never worried about blood trails.

But I'm old school and when I swapped my recurve for a crossbow my string tracker made the move as well. After the shot I still wait the 30-45 minutes for bambi to lay down and then simply follow the blaze orange string.

Re: GRZ2

That's kinda why I haven't upgraded my Vix II. I'm not a small guy (6'1", 200'ish pounds and draw 31" on my vertical bow) but it's really nice only having to pull 150 pounds, especially when shooting a lot of target - the 260 plus draw weights just to gain a few fps, which I don't need for...

Re: GRZ2

Don't use one but have put a bunch together and sold a bunch along with the Grizzly - both popular bows due to the price point. It's essentially the same bow as the full up Grizzly with two basic exceptions. The stock is a little more skeletonized and it has a lower grade scope (something "less...

Re: New Exclibur Trigger-- New Accessory???

I love 2 stage triggers, have them on most of my hunting rifles but they tend to be a either "love it or hate it". If it was an option/accessory I would consider it. I don't have a problem with my current factory trigger - actually like it and don't see the need to tinker, but if a 2 stage...

Re: Micro VS Matrix

I also own the "long limb" (Vixen II). I have also wrestled with wanting a slimmer, trimmer model (the weight isn't much different between all the models which are light by crossbow standards anyhow). I "didn't" move to the Matrix because I didn't see the "about 3" on e...
