Re: Not a bow kill...but a nice buck
That's a beauty any way you can get it. Getting something that nice on public land makes it that much sweeter.

Re: New to Crossbows, Seeking Advice
Excalibur is an excellent choice. Do not be scared of by the cocking process. I have the C2 cocker and it makes that part very easy. I should add that I can cock it with just the plain rope cocker, however, I have a bad shoulder and do not want to make it any worse. So I just use the rope cocker to ...

Re: i was decocking and.......WTF !!! Postby wabi » Sun Oct 26, 2014 8:44 pm Not saying it's a contributing factor, but one thing I've seen/heard about is the wear on the camo in the groove in the stock where the cocking rope goes. This indicates to me there must be a lot of friction when the rope ...

Re: Do you hunt with vertical and crossbows?
I use a compound for early season in NY. Planning on the crossbow for new 2 week season and then a .270 for gun and a CVA 50 cal. for black powder. Hoping that NY will eventually expand the crossbow season beyond 2 weeks so then I will be just crossbow and leave the compound behind. This is the firs...

Re: Boo's way of sighting in a scope
Read the review, very good.
Also agree that the rail mount that comes with the scope to go on top of the Excalibur rail is very heavy and should be taken off and replaced with 30mm scope rings that mount directly to the Excalibur rail.

Re: Matrix 380 - broadhead for deer
I have always had good success with the smaller diameter fixed blade models as have many of my friends. I have used the 1" 100 grain slick tricks with my conventional vertical compound bow with great success. I have tried the carbon express quad pro 1" 100 grain in my Matrix and they fly p...

Re: Idea that came to me in treestand
This weekend I tried different size bungees around my thigh around a foot up from my knee. The bungee that was about 24" long worked perfectly to keep the cross bow in place. The bottom of the bungee goes below my thigh and the hooks are attached together above my thigh after going through the ...

Re: Matrix triggers ...
I have the factory trigger and it works just fine for me on my Matrix. I just focus on the target until the shot goes off.
Try practicing with your crossbow for a while as was previously suggested and see if it works for you.

Re: Matrix Micro 335
New York laws do not make a whole lot of sense. Hopefully, the folks at Excalibur can lobby to get the draw weight limit changed.
Interesting to see that the new Filed and Stream store flyers for the store that opened in Rochester featured among others, the Matrix 405 and the Matrix 330.

Idea that came to me in treestand
While sitting in my tree stand this weekend I came up with the following idea for keeping my crossbow at the ready. I'm not sure if the design folks at Excalibur intended this, however, the gap between the fore end of the stock and the front of the trigger guard fits almost perfectly over the front ...

Forgot to add - the 100 grain slick tricks are good. Also Walmart sells for less than $15 per 3, the 100 grain 4 blade 1" Carbon Express fixed broadheads. They look good and have gotten good reviews in the research that I have done.

When I ordered mine from Wyvern Creations, David suggested the Laser II Gold Tip Arrows with 100 grain field tips and broad heads. They have the small blazer fletchings. I have practiced out to 50 yards and they are dead on.

Re: Lets talk about camouflage patterns.
A lighter open pattern is what I prefer. I have many different ones. Some of the darker patterns that are less open will make you stand out like a blob. I agree with previous post that green/brown camo is more to hide you from other hunters. If you were only trying to hide from deer; you would wear ...

Re: Question on C2 cocking aid
Talked to a friend this morning. He was in Bass Pro a few weeks ago and tried out one of the crank cocking devices there on a compound crossbow. It was his first time trying it and not knowing what he was doing, he went way overboard and overcocked it, plus he is a real strong guy and the rope broke...
