Re: What scope for 405?
With the scope set such that our eye looks right into the center when shouldering it, higher magnification doesn't seem a hindrance to me. I have a Duralyt on each Matrix (2-8), shot 3 deer this year between 52-56 yards, with 8x set each time. Twice low light enough to have the Ill. dot barely on. 8...

Re: New Scope
I doubt that the actual scope will have that reticle, even though it's in Zeiss' s own pre-announcement. I don't care for that reticle either. The 1-4 VXR you have is a class scope, IMO . And I say that even though I own 2 Duralyt 2-8 lighted scopes: 1 on each Matrix. Back to this scope, I think it ...

Re: Rookie question- mega 405 best accurate hunting bolt?
My testing out to 100 yds using benchrest technics, equipment, with M380 & M405 with Boo strings, TT 2.5 DS has resulted in the following: Equal accuracy both bows. Arrows used were 1) 18" Zombies, AL inserts(26g), plastic Moon Nocks, highly helical Blazers , 2) spine indexed 18" Zombi...

Re: broadhead for micro question
Boo, Excaliber, others, correct me if you see error in my statement. The more surface area of the broadhead, the more it'll tend to steer, the more FOC it'll need to reduce the steering. A smaller BH will require less FOC, and a very low profile expandible(Schacker, FOC, others?) will need even less...

Re: What scope for 405?
Here's what I'd want for a M380 or M405. A scope from a well respected scope company. It'd be light and relatively small , have an uncluttered reticle which is easy to determine ranges out to at least 80 yds, not have a lighted reticle because it wouldn't need one due to having a reticle that can be...

Re: What scope for 405?
So much depends on what you'll use the M405 for. You max desired range, level of dim light capability you're willing to spend more for, etc.

Re: Question on new 405 setup
Concerning the question of broadheads: the Swhackers (brass insert) and FOC have the least steering. Lots of people will state that their broadhead is so consistent and hits just the same as a fieldpoint, "all the way out to 40 yards". So? The rubber meets the road from 50-100 yds. What ha...

Re: O/T Savage 10ML PRICING OUTRAGEOUS
With a gun it's how far can I hit em and with a bow it's how close can I get em. Only does go in my freezer. Don't fool with bucks unless I'm giving the meat away. Jray, To each his own. I get appx 2 days a year to "gun" hunt and 5 months a year to "bow" hunt. This is due to our...

Re: matrix 380 and spitfires
Works great for me. I did use orthodontic elastics just for peace of mind. However I primarily use FOCs. Of course, brass inserts for SFs and AL inserts for FOCs.

Re: O/T Savage 10ML PRICING OUTRAGEOUS
I started with smokeless MLing in the later 90s. Used 250g & 300g XTPs. They are a lot like F-4 Phantoms : put a big enough engines on them and they'll acceletate quickly and go fast. A lot like a brick with big engines. XTPs are the same. Now we have much better bullets (275,300,327 g Master Hu...

Re: O/T Savage 10ML PRICING OUTRAGEOUS
I've used the 10ML and MZl-2 since before they come out: worked on loads with TB prior to introduction and for 2-3 years after. A little over 10,000 shots from 50 cal and 45 &40 cal variants . Have 6 of them(2 50s , 3 45s , 1 40). IE, been there, done that. Recoil doesn't have to be viscous. The...

Re: What Crossbow to buy?
I'm 5'10", 180#,almost 68, own a M380 and a M405. Use C-2 to cock 405 but only take rope for re cocking when hunting. It feels just right size-wise for me. The 405 almost always gets to go hunting. The M335 weighs about the same(why?) but is better balanced. I own and hunt with a M405 because E...

Re: black executioner with FOC's
I agree on the Zombies. FOCs can cut huge holes. This was out of a M380 I set up for one of my son's friends. I can't explain why it's quite so big.
