Re: Washer weights

I believe that Three Rivers Traditional Archery have 5 grain washers. Not sure of the diameter.

Re: Sling or carry to deer stand

I use a modified sling which I read about on another forum. It requires drilling a small hole in the middle of the stock. Instead of swivels, I use the same rope as is used on a Crankaroo to attach the sling. This is noiseless. You then carry the crossbow upside down. Even with a pack, this works gr...

Re: Vixen II Stock

I believe that most all of that difference is in the LOP. (length of pull) I'm a shorty, and found a big difference between the original Vixen and the Vixen II. I purchased a Phoenix rail from Danny Miller and now have a Phoenix II. The shorter LOP is really nice, especially when wearing heavy cloth...

Re: DIY broad head target ideas

I used to have a block target and it created a real mess and didn't last long. Now, I just using a pile of sand. Sometimes I have to dig to find my arrow, but it works. I just dedicate one arrow for broadheads and thoroughly clean it after each use. Going back to a previous post, maybe several paper...

Re: How I test for penetration

Personally, I,ve not been too impressed with Montecs. They are accurate, but don't seem to hold up very well when encountering bone. Most of the deer I've killed were with 125 Thunderheads and more recently, 125 gr Wasp SST Hammer which is also a 3 blade fixed. I used 125 gr Slicktrick this year, bu...

It would be interesting if you would post some of your findings. I think that most bowhunters are always striving for improvement.

Re: Some rattling research

I've been rattling for more than 30 years and agree with those findings. I've had success from early October, through the first day of rifle season. The light tickling that many suggest, just hasn't worked for me. Twice, I've had bucks come in while I was installing a stand and using those long prun...

Re: Buck Fever @ Age # 50?

I'm 74 and I feel your pain. Fri a.m. about 11:30, I saw a deer approaching quickly through thick brush. I picked up my Excalibur and at the same time I saw horns. Big horns! I wasn't sure which side of the tree he would pass on, but saw that I needed to turn 180 degrees. I turned and a deer was alr...

Talk to Danny Miller. Last year I switched a Vixen II rail for a Phoenix rail. Now I have a Phoenix II.

Re: Titanium Diet

Curious to how you made a rope cocker? What kind of rope? Do you then cut your arrows so that the broadhead is encased in the riser? Sounds like a good idea. It probably deadens the sound somewhat also.

Re: i hate to admitted

Call Danny Miller and see if he will swap rails with you and get a Phoenix or Vixen rail. That would be the cheapest, and IMO opinion the best option.

Re: Are you ok with multi crosshairs or dots

The last 5 or 6 years that I used a vertical bow, I used a pendulum (sp?) sight and I really liked it. Up to 25 yds just aim and shoot. It was somewhat noisy, but the deer didn't seem to mind. I don't see them advertised anymore. If someone offered one for a crossbow, I'd have to try it. I shot a fa...
