Re: New Crossbow Hunter with a 355
Congratulations on the deer Riflemanz! I've always like fixed better than mechanical, so I bought the 150 BC last night. If they don't fly right I won't use them, but from the sounds of things I should be ok. I have a buddy that just bought a 355 too and he is going to use the Rage 2 blade this yea...

Re: would u shoot him
Any animal you take with a bow is a trophy. My family and I eat nothing but game meat, so to answer your question - absolutely.

Re: Rookie Crossbow Hunter Needs Advice
[quote="Mayor of Atlantis"] Starting out do not attempt a killing shot beyond 25-30 yds with any type of bow while hunting deer and bring that in to 20-25 yds for moose and bear. A crossbow is not a gun. The projectile impact does not "drop" big game like a bullet does. quote] We...

Re: Rookie Crossbow Hunter Needs Advice
Any Excalibur will do you well. Unless you like to not be able to adjust your own brace height, change your string, and otherwise completely maintain your bow. Then buy a wheeled crossbow and pay a bow shop to do all of that for you. Seriously, being new to crossbows, you can (almost) bank...

I like the Slick Tricks as well. Bought the 150gr XBOW Tricks to sit on top of my GT Laser 4's for this season

Re: What type of case
I use a case like IronNoggin (except it's a Black Dodge Ram) for local hunting. And a Plano Manta for long trips. It's huge but I can fit the bow (stringed) arrows (in a hard arrow case), quiver and other stuff in there so it's not that bad.

.....to retrieve the seat I left by the tree where I was sitting when I shot the deer yesterday. Old age or excitement? That's cause your wife wasn't there to tell you to pick it up!!   This wouldn't be as funny if it wasn't at least partially true.   :...

Re: Swacker Broadheads
Tried 2 last year. They worked fine but the blades were trashed after the shot. If you get them and try them - you practice with them by adding electrical tape around the front of the BH to keep the blades from opening. MAKE SURE TO CHECK THIS BEFORE EVERY SHOT. Had a blade open on me because I didn...

Re: Finally shot 355 with Broadheads
I shot through a bison rib with a Montec CS and it came out pristine. I think the POI "differences" are related to ballistics coefficient, bow efficiency, and drag. That's why you have to shoot any BH you hunt with IMO. Just curious.....what's you POI difference at 40 between 125 and 150 g...

Re: Finally!
Congratulations on the doe. If you dont find the front half of your arrow (and your pricey BH) it is my experience that the blades will be trashed anyway and need replacement so it's probably not as big of a loss. At least it helps to think like that!!

Re: Turned Another Arrow Red This Morning
Thanks everyone. All in all a good day. The afternoon hunt was uneventful. I bounced 1 while exploring some new area. Even though it was "cooler" it was still in the 70' s.

Re: Turned Another Arrow Red This Morning
Thanks.. I have been experimenting and building and re-building arrows trying to "recover" some older stuff that didn't fly right at one time or another. So I had a quiver full of old Horton bolts with different 125gr BHs. This one was an old NAP Thunderhead. Total wt was around 420gr - a ...
