Re: The Horizontal Zone

I just read the blog will say this- speed sells vertical bows so I am not suprised x-bow companies are using the same marketing strategy to obtain their share of the pie. I did go onto the Ravin website to read their ads. They compare their x-bow to a rifle in terms of 100 yard accuracy; but leave o...

Re: Would like feedback on the Charger EXT Crank

I used the Charger EXT crank today for the first time. I was impressed; it made a slight noise in the beginning of the draw cycle but that was it. Easy to crank and I shot with it mounted on the xbow. I plan to leave it on when hunting as it did not affect my ability to shoot comfortably.

Re: HHA Question

I was able to do some shooting today. The sun came out about noon. Got the HHA extension Tuesday in the mail. Got the scope dialed in at 20 yards then moved back to 60 and got it in the bullseye-looks like tape #37 for the bulldog 380. Thanks for the responses. SEW- I did go to Twisted Arrow afterwa...

Re: What's your take

How about a 300 blackout semi-auto platform (AR build) for hogs/coyotes or a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag SS with 6 inch barrel. Those two are on my to-buy-list. The blackout for hogs and the other for anything else in North America. I hear you on the safe space issue. I need a third just for my xbo...

HHA Question

I bought a used HHA Optimizer on ebay- shipped to me with no issues. My question is do you turn your speed dial to the highest setting then sight in the scope at 20 yards leaving it at this setting for both 20 and 60 yards? I assume if you change the setting your point of impact will change. Thanks ...

EBAY Scam

I learned a hard lesson selling on ebay. I listed my Mathews SwitchBack XT on there as I no longer hunt with my compounds only use my xbows. It sold in 7 days and I had planned to sell my Monster Chill X next. I was paid and shipped it to the buyer. He sent me a picture of the bow case filled with w...

Re: Crossbows

I actually like Excaliber's price point compared to the compound xbows out there. When you see a Tenpoint or Ravin sell for over 2000 the prices here don't worry me. I looked at the price of replacement strings for those bows- ouch compared to recurves. Then the rate at the local bow shop is 15-20 p...

Re: "Heavy" Arrows from Black Eagle?

Rather than go heavier how about smaller (thicker) diameter. May not need a 14gpi bolt but maybe a 11gpi micro diameter to get the same penetration of the heavier one. I was looking at Victory Archery's website and noticed their crossbow bolt the Voo Doo. It features a small diameter and thicker sha...

Re: OT: GradDaddy's Gun

When my dad passed away I inherited his gun collection. In it are two shotguns, one from each of his grandparents. Though they have not been fired in years I would love to turkey hunt with either one. He also left me his 1960 Marlin 30-30. I bought a scope to put on and that will be heading to the d...

Re: Newbie wants to get it right

My neighbor bought a micro 315 and he has no issues cocking or decocking it. It is light and shoots great. I enjoyed shooting it; no noise/vibration noted without any suppression stuff on it. Not sure you can go wrong with any excal you choose though, they will kill a deer with good shot placement. ...

Re: OT my little vacation

Glad to hear your doing well. When I worked in the cath lab we called that (LAD) the widow maker. You chose well to call your wife as most men ignore the warning signs until it is too late. Once a doctor told me "if the food your eating tastes good, spit it out as it is probably not good for yo...

Re: Newbie Incoming!

Welcome! You chose a great crossbow and outstanding company. I have had nothing but a positive experience since buying an Excalibur crossbow. I would use the search function to type in your crossbow; this will show all the threads with those keywords. There are or were some videos on the website tha...
