Hawke 1.5-5X MAP scope
I just received my new Hawke 1.5-5X MAP scope today. I got it installed and leveled and went to the backyard to sight it in. Got it all sighted in @ 20 yards and was able to hit bulls very consistantly. Then I moved back to 30 yards and adjusted the speed ring to the 280 hash. Took a shot and it hit...

Re: Used Vixen questions
I would scoup up a pre 2008 in a hardbeat. Longer rail and full size stock. Don't cut them short and I say no more. :) Longer rail? What is the power stroke then? Is it still a 150lb draw? Also if it has a full size stock what would the overall length be? I want to make sure that it will be comfort...

Re: Used Vixen questions
I got to talk to the actual owner of it last night and it does indeed have the mag tip limbs! He bought it new in 2008 and only used it for 2 seasons. It has been sitting in storage in the case for the last 3 years. He says its mint and not a mark on it. I am hopefully going to get it in the next da...

Re: Airgun shooters
although I can't help you find an area to shoot, I wanted to say that I am a fan of airguns. I currently have 3 crosman's that are variations of the CO2 powered 2240. 2 of them are from the crosman custom shop(1 pistol, 1 carbine), and the other one was just a bone stock 2240 that I added a stock an...

Re: Made my first Flemish String!
G'day Bryman, Just a small tip to save you wasting material. If you try a more expensive low stretch material expect to add up to 1-2 inches in length. Yeah I am wondering about that, because right now with the Dacron strings my finished length before stretching is about 34", and then after I ...

Re: Used Vixen questions
Actually, no. $300-325 would be more like it. There's very little that goes 'wrong' w/ these xbows and they all have lifetime warranties. The brace height on your pic is way low, btw. :D I bought a 'poop' brown Vixen from Miller for $350, but it was NOS. Good luck w/ your deal! I see the current Vi...

Used Vixen questions
I found a used Vixen on a local classifieds site. From the picture I can't tell if it has the magtip limbs or carved tip. when did excal switch to the magtips? I texted the guy selling the vixen and he said it is about 5 years old, and that's all the info he has because he is selling it for his step...

Re: New models
When I started looking into getting my own crossbow, I must admit the first thing I thought was "I'm gonna get the fastest one there is". But then once I did a lot of research and reading I realized that speed wasn't as important as accuracy, reliability, and ease of maintenance. After I d...

Re: Made my first Flemish String!
Yeah I am probably gonna end up going a little crazy at first making the strings. Each one so far has come out better than the last, and I just wanna keep making more to try and fix what I don't like about the previous one. It's pretty tricky trying to keep the bundles from cabling up when splicing ...

Re: Made my first Flemish String!
I spent the day shooting the new string on my Ibex. Total of 60 shots throughout the day. The string performed very well!! I had to put 6 addl' twists in it to keep it off the S5. I didn't even have to adjust my red dot, I was hitting bulleyes with the first set of 4 shots. Since it didn't change my...

Made my first Flemish String!
After doing a lot of reading and watching some videos I decided that I wanted to try and make my own flemish string. I ordered 2 spools of B-50 dacron and some string makers wax. I spent about 3 hours last night twisting and twisting and twisting more. The 1st string came out looking ok but, the end...

Exaclibur's Service is second to none!
After a mishap last weekend I had to send my bow to Dan Miller for repairs. I sent the bow out Monday morning and it arrived at Dan's on Wednesday. I got home from work today(Thursday) and what do you know, there is a package on my doorstep! Sure enough its my xbow! How's that for Service? Simply am...

Re: Joined the Dry Fire club today slight damage to mag tip
Yeah I had to tell someone about it. I told my wife but she doesn't really understand what I really did. I was so mad at myself right after it happened, but now that I know the bow is gonna be taken care of I feel more relaxed. Although I am already missing it and I haven't even sent it out yet. At ...

Re: Joined the Dry Fire club today slight damage to mag tip
Probably the only time in my life I will be president of anything. I'm kinda surprised that after the string chewed up part of the tip that its ok. All that happened to the string was separated the end serving a bit more. From what I've read most of the time the string goes flying off the bow...
