Quivers
I am considering an Excalibur bow and understand that an alternate Dan Miller style quiver is available. Can any of you with more experience shed some light on the pros and cons of this quiver? I would like to see one mounted on a bow if any pics are available. Thanks in advance for any info.

Here's the one I had on my Vixen. It's much easier to carry your Xbow on your shoulder with the Dan Miller Mount.

I prefer the Vixen for target and 3D. I have an Excal Paradox for hunting. All 3 of my Vixens and my Wolverine have dissipator bars.

I wanted my crossbow to be as balanced as possible, so I took the quiver off altogether and got a Pro-Tect quiver instead.
That's great. These things look great, I've never seen them before. I too never liked a lot of stuff on my bow so I used a Cat Quiver, but these things look really nice. Anybody else have any experience with them?Corvus wrote:I wanted my crossbow to be as balanced as possible, so I took the quiver off altogether and got a Pro-Tect quiver instead.

I just got mine the other day and haven't taken it into the field yet (or even loaded any arrows into it), but the quiver itself seemed very quiet. It's constructed very simply, with just heavy elastics used to hold the hinges shut. I ordered the larger size so I could use it for both my vertical bow and my crossbow arrows. I had seen Ted Nugent use it on "Spirit of The Wild", so I figured that if it was good enough for Ted, it'd work well enough for me!
I use the Dan Miller quiver bracket & am well pleased with the mounting system, but I changed the quiver he furnished & use an old PSE quiver I had on hand because it's easier (for me) to take on & off and is a bit quieter when shooting.
Can't find any real faults with the quiver mount system Dan designed, but I did reinforce the angle bracket that bolts to the front sight base by adding a couple more screws. I had been told by another user of the mount that he broke his, so I modified it before I ever used it. Sorry, I don't have any pics on hand to show the modification. If I get a chance I'll try to get some to show you.

IMHO his quiver is better than the side hanging quiver sold by Excalibur. The quiver he sells and recommends is the Bohning 4-arrow Lynx quiver. It is also superior to the Excalibur quiver. It holds your arrows closer together and more snugly. The Excalibur quiver and side mount is the absolute only thing I was not 100% pleased with when I bought my Exocet 200 last summer. If you don't go with the Bohning quiver - go with the 3-arrow Kwikee Kwiver.

Where can you find the Dan Miller quiver? I did a search and only see the links to this forum. Thanks.
Call Dan Miller to have one sent to you.

For those of you who are not aware, Excalibur's current quivers are much improved. They are sleeker, and hold your bolts more secure.

As you can see, the bolts are triple secured and they take up only 3/4 the space of the older one.
