coyotes!!!

Post by BigUgly »

Went to our most productive area yesterday afternoon and got a surprise. We,ve been putting out apples and they have disapeared almost as fast as we could put them out. When we got to our stands the apples are still there I think thats weird. At about 4:00 I hear the first yip then at 5:00 they really start yipping howling for about 5 minutes then you could hear them yipping in a line throught he bush and feild. Now this is a small bush only about 10 acres. Hope they don't stay to long cause I'm pretty sure they will have pushed everthing out. Do you think the deer will return after the dogs move out. Almost consider setting up for coyotes.

Get a predator call. Sit out for deer, but if you hear some coyotes nearby and want to take one, pull out the call. The deer should go about their business again if the yotes move on.
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

I hunt S/E of Port Perry. There are lots of coyotes in the area.

Is there ever. I've never hunted coyote but am really thinking of getting a .223 or .243 and giving it a go. I just hate shooting an animal that I have no intention of consuming and I sure wouldn't eat a song dog. By just shooting a few would it make any difference at all?

One makes a difference. Not sure if they allow rifle shooting in that area though. Do you know if they do?

You are allowed to use a .280 and under. Seems weird no rifle for deer but can use a .270 or 25-06 for small game. Makes no sense.

No, but you could keep (or sell) the pelt. Do em a favour and thin them out. Too many yotes in an area spread bad mange and slow death for them.

The way I see it, they are VARMINTS are their numbers are increasing.
We can help with that, one at a time. They are smart amimals and hard to shoot but Normie has a few tricks hot up his sleeve this winter and an accurate 22-250 willing to do its part.
I never miss( well, not often).
