I've been out off and on during the last 3 weeks , and took some pictures along the way ...
We started out with some snow , and things looked good ...
Got some cool shots of some Pheasant hen birds that made it thru the season ... I spotted them huddled in a fence line sunning themselves , on our way back from breakfast one morning ... I manged to get within 6 feet of them before they flushed ... Greylag and CH were watching behind me as I crept closer for the pictures ... too bad they didn't get a picture of the flush !
We were hunting some Conservation area and started scouting to see where the deer where ...
Out feeding late morning ...
Checked the bedding areas and food sources since there was lots of corn stubble ...
Also had turkeys walking in front of us in almost every bush ... had them roost around me one night on an evening stand as well ...
Got a few shots of misc does around me while on stand ...
Then the snow melted and it rained for several days ...
I got some cool pictures while scouting from property to property ...
I guess we are not the only ones that like an elevated vantage point ...
The farm fields got soggy and wet and the waterfowl loved it !
Tried my luck in a quickly made ground blind in WMU85 ( got an extra antlered/antlerless tag for that area ) .... had a close encounter with a button buck ...
Dropped back into town one afternoon to re-supply and got some cool waterfowl shots at our local park ...

So that's where the geese have been holding up !
Things got colder yesterday afternoon and a light skiff of snow ...
Saw some turkeys this a.m. while scouting after breakfast .... they cut into the bush so I hunkered down with the camera and waited for them to try and sneak by .... about 15mins later the advanced scouts ( or young dumb ones ) came by at approx 5 yards ... I was in thick cover and they were skirting the edge of the creek but I managed to get some cool manual focus shots thru the brush ...
Went to one of my favorite spots for an evening stand .... the beavers have got all the trees around the field chopped down .... except for the one with my stand in it , that I wrapped with wire last season ... the drainage creek has a thin layer of ice and is blocked approx 100 yards from the road ....
Scouted the property to decide where to set up and almost managed a stalk and shot on this group ..... one too many picture though!
We have seen a few bucks but no good pictures .... I got a couple pictures of a buck at about 100 yards away ... he only had his right side antler on and the picture looked crappy so I didn't keep it ...

We will get out a couple of days yet and after talking to the boys today , I don't think we will be as picky ... it has been a great season ! .... the freezer is full , got lots of summer sausage and pepperetts ... just great to get out the last few days !
