First crossbow kill

Post by danbo »

Yesterday, opening archery season in VA, I took my first crossbow deer ever on my first crossbow hunt!!!!! Only a 4 pter, but weighed 128 lbs, so pretty good size for VA. A total of at least 7 deer can into by pea - food plot. Saw a doe at 7:30am. 2pm a pair of bucks (I got the largest), and at 5:45pm, four does came to feed. After eating for 30 minutes, two more pairs of does came to eat within the next hour(may have been the original 4????) Sure hard to predicate their feeding schedule. Yesterday was 88 degrees at 3pm. ALMOST too hot to hunt. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

Almost 92° here today - too hot for an evening hunt!
But I might take my son and our longbows out for a "stump shooting" session and see if we can find any deer this evening. Went for a morning hunt this AM, and 7:00AM T-shirt weather somehow distracts from the hunting experience.

to hot to hunt

I know all of you in the northern USA and Canada complain about it being to hot to hunt. Well its always hot in south Texas and the deer still move. The one's that don't move are the hunters sitting in the AC.
