Unusual Turkey

Post by Newbi »

I was in a ground blind, opening day of muzzle loading season, when this group of turkeys came righ by me. They are all hens and the light colored one is what they call a Grey Phase. She is not an albino, but a very pale grey color. You can see all of the normal markings on the feathers. Wildlife officers told me that they occur from time to time, and are not the result of cross breeding with domestic turkeys. I could have taken one of these birds legally had I been using my Excal, but not legal with muzzle loader. Besides, the .54 flintlock I had in my hands wouldn't have left much for the pot I fear. I will try again this weekend. Thought you might find this picture interesting.
