A little stuck

We have a young man in our club that just seems to stay into trouble. He called me a while ago and asked me if I would pull him out of a mud hole. He said that he needed a little "tug". The truck has 68 miles on it and his father will not be happy when he sees the bumper and grill

. I did the same stuff in my teens but not with dad's new truck.

LOL! I did that this year with my dads truck, but it was to avoid hitting a bear!

I hear ya Bob, when he said he needed a little tug, I didn't think much of it but when I got there several trucks had tried to pull him out by my Jacked up Dodge 1500 did the trick

. You can see a ranger trying to get him out but if you don't have some good tires, the truck doesn't matter much.

After getting him out he looked at the cracked plastic grill and said that he could super glue that without a problem but the front bumper had shifted about 3 inches and the right fender has a crease in it. I told him the best thing to do was to own up to the accident and suffer the consequences. Instead he has the bright idea that he's taking it to the car wash, clean it up really good, park it on the street in front of the house and tell his dad that someone must have hit it overnight

. Bad, bad bad choice. Of course he thinks that his Dad is stupid but I have an idea that he's in for a big surprise in the morning when he breaks the news to his dad that "someone smacked his new truck last night. I believe I'd own up to my stupidity and keep some trust in my relationship with my Dad than to pour out this outlandish fictional story that will probably do serous damage to their relationship.

At 17, I had a 1967 mustang fastback "still have it in storage" that I drove out to a beach party and when I came home, I parked on the second step on the deck and left the door open, radio on and the headlights on. Dad woke me up at daybreak and asked if I'd done a little drinking last night and I denied it. When he said " I'm going to ask you one more time" I knew that the gig was up and I fessed up. He took my car away for 3 months but that was nothing compared to the guilt that I felt for lying to the very man that bought the car in the first place. learned a huge lesson and NEVER lied to my dad again.

My dad clobered me if he caught me telling lies as a kid. Today I'm glad he did that!! Made me a good adult!!

Reminds me of the time I had a bit too much and got sick. My mom asked me the next morning if I had a bit to much to drink last night. I innocently as possible told her I thought it was something I had eaten. She said I was using the trash can instead of the commode and then I confessed. She never mentioned it again, and the guilt was worse than any punishment she could have given me! Looking back makes you realize that parent's aren't really as dumb as they seem to be.

When I was 16 I begged my parents to let me stay overnight with some friends at the county fair while they went back home. They finally agreed with the advise, "Don't do anything stupid." Well of course I did something stupid. We got a couple of cases of beer and went at it like my stomach was on fire, and the beer was the fire extinguisher. I lived in a very small town and everybody knew everybody and their business. Well, my Dad was a preacher. I met some people from home in the elevator at the hotel where we were staying. I was on the floor, they were standing.
The next day I went home, and the first and hardest thing that I did was to go tell my Dad that I had done something stupid. I wanted to tell him before anyone else did, because I knew they would. He said thanks for tell me. Nothing else. I was devastated. I expected public execution or at least pillary in the square. But nothing. I never did anything stupid like that again, as long as I lived under my Dad's roof. I never wanted to do anything that would dishonor him again.

How will he explain the dent is on the right side if it was parked on the side of the road unless he parked on the left side of the road?

Sometimes we all need a kick in the backside. This is one of those times.

I had a kid who worked for me one summer lie to his dad about something like this and I was friends with his dad. Call me a snitch, I told his dad what was going on but he "never heard it from me"

I just thought how can you lie to you dad like that and leave him on the hock for paying for it.

Didn't have to snitch, the idiot begged me to e-mail the pics that I took to him. Yep, you guessed it. It's a family computer and his sister checked the e-mail while they were out looking at the damage. BUSTED!!!!! He called me about a hour ago and said that he thought about what I said and told his dad the truth before they went outside. Depending on the damage estimate, he may loose the dirt bike that he got for Christmas.

Partikle, I've been down that road. I witnessed a good friend's under aged son extremely intoxicated with some friends in a parking lot. I went over and tricked him into getting in my truck then drove him home and explained to his dad what happened and was told that I should "mind my business"

. I never heard from him again

. Oh well, his loss, I've got the best friends I've ever had right here
