375fps x-bow

Post by Tommy-SKIL-Figure »

375fps is an outrageous claim... didnt see any information about what bolt weight they recommend but even still...

that x-bow "only" has a draw weight of 175 pounds and apparently shoots 375fps, compared to an exomax at 225 pounds and the claimed 355 fps...

does the use of cams help redirect lost energy from using a recurve? or does the longer power stroke of 17 play a bigger role here? im sure its a combination of both and also, what exactly is a power stroke? I have a pretty fair idea already but even still, id like to learn a bit more.

regards

Tom

Properly designed cams and a long power stroke can give you a LOT of stored energy. 375 fps is not only far from outrageous, but easy enough to engineer.

The biggest question is, will the bow hold together for weeks, months, years? Barnett does not exactly have the best track record on that issue.

All new Bnetts supposedly only have a one year warranty. Not that I care, lol.

i saw it and a few other Barnett's up close and personal at OK. City OK. 3-D shoot. it may make that fps but from what i saw it won't hold together very long at that speed. finish wasn't too bad, fit and function were not up to my liking. would i spend my $ on it No! they have issues with all of their CB's and i don't see how they can keep their doors open with all the repairs and warranty work they have to do.

Both Parker and now Barnett are really pushing the speed limits for a resonable price. I have to wonder how these bows will hold up longterm? Some people don't ming replacing their stuff every few years with the newer version. I can't...

Question unanawered . . .how will a broadhead react to that speed? Who cares how fast they can shoot a target tip? Are you planning to hunt with it?

The fixed blades will fly all over the place and the mechanical's blades will probably break into several pieces upon impact.

Broadhead manufacturers need to step it up. Otherwise, there's no need for the faster bows.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.
Perception trumps intention.

I think Bowtech has one called the Stryker with a claim of 410fps! They do make solid compounds, but like was mentioned, how will a broadhead react. You would have to definitely slow it down a little with a heavier hunting setup.

Recent experiences by someone with a 'speed bow' convince me they are measuring the wrong thing. The should be measuring the velocity of the PARTS when the bow blows up. I'm done with speed. If I want faster, I'll be using a handgun or rifle, rather than the Vortex.
