HOW TO REMOVE A PHOENIX STOCK

Post by TJN22 »

Need some how to help.

I'd like to quiet my Phoenix down a bit by taping or foaming the stock,
but first I need to remove the stock.

After removing all the stock screws I am unable to loosen the stock from the rail. Do the stocks fit that tight or am I missing another piece of hardware holding the stock to the rail?

Also, does anyone have tips on: DO's, DON'Ts

Is foam better than gaffers tape?

What exactly is gaffers tape?

Thanks and Happy Hunting

The stock fits very tightly! It usually takes a good bit of force to break it loose.
Never had the stock off my Phoenix. I figured if they were meant to be taped or foam filled Excalibur would already have done it.
Things like a Boo string with catwhiskers, or a set of STS dampers will quiet it down quite a bit without taking a chance on damaging it.

A few small taps with a rubber mallet will do. I fill all my rails. It does make a small sound improvement. A Boo whisker'd string and dampers like Wabi said will make the most noticable noise reduction.

I have heard that the quality is low and the dampers split in about 50 shots and there are no spare parts.... Does anyone have experience with the system?
